Fks heel arm disassembly

I don't have one for reference at the moment, but I believe the rivet near the housing needs to be drilled out in order for the plastic wedge piece and housing to slide out the side. After placing the new one in the slot, this rivet will need to be replaced.

Yeah they're riveted, and it's like a machine press rivet not a crummy pop-rivet.

I'd take the pieces to a machine shop and get them to sort it, should take them all of 5 minutes to drill it out and press a new rivet on.

That's pretty much the industry accepted term for pivfks heels.

How did you even get a replacement? Look/Rossi generally don't do that, they make you ship them back...

OK, I can help you.

to take FKSs fully apart your gonna need a drill and a good bit, Plus some epoxy assuming you want to use them again.

the bent wire part that keeps the dildo in an upright position holds everything together. you will see it is riveted through the main hinge of the binding. You need to drill those rivets down and yank that sucker out, which will allow the whole assembly to be taken apart. I didnt read if you took the spring housing appart, but its a good time to do that and re grease everything with a high quality grease, bike stuff is good, standard white lithium grease is fine though. To get the plastic housing off, back off the DIN adjuster till it tightens, then get a flat head and pry the housing up to help it snap off. newer FKSs has a small allen head set screw that should be removed before doing so.
At this point it is pretty easy to get everything apart. do what you need to do, clean and degrease them, grease um up, and reassemble. When it comes time to put the bent bar you drilled out back in, get a good glob of 5min epoxy or JB weld in the hole and jam it ALL THE WAY IN. you might wanna dry test fit it first.

You should also tear the toes down at this point and clean them too, salt eats the grease away and the increased friction causes them to snap off at the post or snap off your knee. The toes are easy, just make sure you pay attention to the orientation of the little steel plate in there. You can also pop out the spherical bushings and clean them up. if its the plastic toe, those are totally idiotproof to teardown. msg me if you have questions, ive been rebuilding fks's for years.

oh yeah, a shop cant help you with this. This project takes place in a no mans land of legality. buy the tech beer to adjust them off the clock, but they cant repair them as i described.

A few years ago, a guy I knew who worked as a shop tech at evo (who would go on to be my boss when I worked there last year) gave me a big bag of spare fks parts when I needed to swap out a few pieces on an old pair of 155s I used to have on some skis that I've since sold. And I got the problem fixed, thanks for all the help guys!
