Personally I think it was pretty weak tit for Obama to not show for this.

Why didn't any of those world leaders come to the us after any number of the terrorist attacks on us soil in the past decade.

A few intentionally provocative satirists got murdered. Its not a huge, huge deal. Shit like this happens all the damn time in countries where brown people live and no one cares. But all of a sudden, some educated white folks whose jobs are to be smartasses get killed, and the sky is falling.

Where was this solidarity and outrage when hundreds of school children were murdered in Pakistan last month? Oh, that's right, everyone just phoned in their condolences.

As far as I'm concerned, this was a shallow publicity stunt. I'm glad oba stayed the fuck away.

I thought the whole world was pissed that the US was being the "world police" and should stay out of all international matters related, or otherwise, to terrorism.

i think its shitty these journalist died but it doesnt warrant the whole world to stop and march. its not going to do anything. jihadi john isnt going to think twice about murdering a whole town full of people because he saw how the whole world came together for a bunch of dead cartoonists.

I agree.

Do I think that this attack in France is worse than any other attack? No

Do I think it was necessary that 50 world leaders and a 3 Million people showed up for a Unity March? Yes and No.

It is a great thing that this Anti-terrorism march happened, assuming that we all agree that terrorists killing people is bad. If, for whatever reason the circumstances in France made it happen; that's great too.

Was it really important that Obama show up in France for this? Yes and No.

As someone pointed out before, none of these world leaders came to the U.S. after 9/11 and marched against terrorism. IDK, maybe they thought that the big strong U.S.A. could handle it on its own.

Obama has been trying to get other countries to take the lead when military action was required since he got into office. Now something happens that finally gets all of them fired up and agreeing that something needs to be done, and he doesn't show up?

No, this march isn't going to make Jihad John stop planning attacks. But it may fire them up a little that Obama doesn't seem to be as engaged as the rest of the free world. Maybe it would make no difference, but it will probably be a little tougher to convince these nations that they need to help us out.

Exactly.

If there was a purpose for such criticism then I might oppose the US's decision. But there isn't, all this does is give other nations more of a reason to look down on the US.

It's rather shallow and needless if you ask me.

But they did form an international coalition to launch military action in two countries - I think that sends a clearer, stronger message of support than a march ...

Lol to the kid above me for comparing an attack that destroyed multiple skyscrapers and killed thousands of people to an attack that killed 13 cartoonists... and for thinking that because 10% of the troops deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq (which had fuck nothing to do with 9/11 you dumb shit), its a true "multinational" event.

With that said, I forgot what I was going to post because I was blown away by this idiot's inability to watch anything other than Fox. Oh I remember now!

Watch Fox use this as an attempt to discriminate against Obama! Yay!

I think because it's France, Kerry or Obama himself should have gone. France, despite what the uneducated American masses might think, is forever tied to the US. France is one of the closest allies and has been literally since the beginning.

I realize the attack is not the biggest, most awful thing tragedy to ever occur. But that shouldn't matter. The leaders of the most powerful countries on the planet are gathering for a rally. Yet the US doesn't attend because he's busy? What message does that send?

You do realize that the US and approximately 147 other countries didn't go right? There were a lot of leaders not there, and I don't know why Obama is being criticized for not going. He's the President of the United fucking States, and I'm sure he's rather fucking busy, maybe that's why he didn't go.

Well now that france is getting attacked they will be fired up and go and attack.

I Dont want to sound like a fucking terrorist, but by not focusing their attacks on just the US, terrorist tom is doing basically letting the US take a backseat role. Every time the freedom fuckers attack someone else, that makes more people anti taliban and actually kind of makes countries put boots on the ground because their fuckin pissed. (Refer to 9/11 and the war on terror in afghanistan)

It's a slow news day. No one outside of American media cares that America didn't represent. People in France care more about the actual protest and uniting as a nation rather than focusing on the circle jerk of some leaders. If there wasn't the march world leaders would just do with what they did murder of the Nigerian and say hey look how bad this was.

Exactly, they got drones to do that for them. Out of any other country I bet the US has killed more "terrorists" than anyone else. Asking Obama to hang around with these amateurs would be like asking Wallisch to attend ski school classes.
