Vimeo cracking down on copyrighted material?

I've never had this happen to me before, but a while back I believe I did see something where Vimeo was going to start doing this, yet I never had anything happen. Has this been happening to anyone else lately?

vimeo sucks, glad I got my money back and just uploaded all my shit to youtube instead. Haven't had a single problem since, and I used to have issues almost daily with vimeo

Tried to upload my filmerunknown there, got taken down due to copyright. Put it up on youtube and its fine. idk man

ITs bullshit, I pay $60 for PLUS and they still take it down but my friend doesn't pay anything and his never get taken down. Sucks that I now Have to switch to YouTube even tho most of my past videos are on vimeo.

I feel bad for everyone with videos on vimeo with lots of views, because I see vimeo either getting shut down or slowly die. The search feature absolutely sucks, the player sucks, two of the most important things of a video hosting site. They're doing it wrong and IMO they're gonna be the next brightcove

True. The only thing they have on YouTube is the ability to just upload wideangle instead of need crop bars for the 16:9 aspect ratio

They are trying to roll out more Vimeo on demand stuff, which could have something to do with why they need to "crack down" on copyrights. brightcove is a publicly traded company, sorry you cannot upload to it for free anymore, but they are far from dead. you guys should all watch this so you can understand why vimeo is the best video platform around for content creators.

Brightcove's interface still sucks. I recently worked for a company that used it and we switched over to youtube because it was free and better. If you think it's far from dead you might want to invest in it, but Brightcove was $25/share 3 years ago and now it's $7.50. Brightcove's dead.

interesting. for sites like newschoolers; brightcove type platforms are key, although ns uses jwplayer to monetize.
