Bush didnt respond to the sunami disaster for 3 days, and america has only raised 30 mill or something like that for the disaster. Bush spends more on his cowboy boots during the entire year than he did helping out one of the biggest disasters of our century

^^First of all, don't rag on Bush until you know how to spell tsunami. Second, why does everyone always look to the US first to provide money for disasters?? We have plenty of our own problems without people whining that giving $30 million to help isn't enough!

I still don't understand how it's always the U.S' obligation to raise money for foreign disasters? Now I'm not saying that raising money to help with reconstruction and whatnot is bad, far from it. In fact I wholeheartedly encourage people/governments to be generous. The fact is that no other government is obligated to send any amount of money, and saying that the US should send money there instead of spending on their military is just nonsense. They are in a war you know...

We had to go in and analyze where best to put our resources and how much was truely needed. Would you just hand over millions of dollars without knowing how or where it would be spent. the 35 million was just an initial figure. Today the analisis came back and we upped the figure ten fold to 350 million, three more times than the closest other nation.

and if Bush wants to police the world then he shouldnt just blow shit up and kill people but work on REBUIDLING...the tsunami is an example of the need to rebuild...thats the only reason they should be their.

3 days isn't accurate anyway, so theres no reason to even try to defend that. Even If it was 3 days, we still owned in volunteers sent, and the building materials, clean up eqipment, medical supplies, etc

bush had to pull his head out of dick cheneys ass, that explains the three day delay. the 'war' in iraq is the reason for only 30 million, as we dont have any extra money floating around. bush would rather pay contrators in iraq huge amounts of money to sit around and say, 'its too dangerous for us to work, so we will just waste the taxpayers money by sitting around'(they knew what they were getting into when they signed the bloody no competition contract, use my money for something usefull) , than give it to the poor people displaced and distraught by the tsunami.

i didnt read all of the posts cuz i got mad and had to post so excuse me if its been said already. we can get on the presidents case when he only contributes 15 mil to one of the worst natural disasters of our time because mr bush likes to glorify america and make us seem like we are the greatest country, and makes us seem like we are doing so much good for the world. so why then can't we donate some more money to all of those innocent people if we are such a caring and protecting nation? ohh yeah i forgot we are pouring all of our money into a disaster of our own called operation iraqi freedom.

^I hope you're right and it is 350 mil. That's a pretty good start, right there... 30 million, considering the resources at America's disposal, would have been an absolute joke (And to the individual sarcastically implying otherwise: you have your head up your ass; for that little cash they'd barely be able to supply adequate water, much less food/clothing/shelter/medical attention, etc). I'd like to see more, but I suppose they'll do what they can. There would be no real reason to withold aid. It works wonders for intl relations ties... which are sorely needed these days.

^I think your logical probelm might lie somewhere in the fact that while everyone agrees that aid to southeast Asia is a good thing, the vast majority of the world's population was not particularly happy about the prospect of war in Iraq. But let's not turn this into ANOTHER thread on that, let's just leave it as ANOTHER thread on the damn Tsunami.
