What makes a good edit good?

I have been searching all day for this topic but it doesn't appear to exist. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks on this subject. There are a few obvious things like varied camera angles, smooth footage, decent color, and good tricks, but what else do you guys think is crucial for an edit to be considered good?

Music. If you don't have a good song or one that fits, no one will ever watch it.

music that actually fits and good filming that doesnt shake

song-skiing-editing need to be a whole. Smooth filming is always nice, I like edits where it's not only follow though, not insane angles, just some stationary, and maybe a few creative shots like from a lift for example.
Edit accordingly to the music. Don't sync in all the landings/take off with the music, it needs to flow as a whole.

then again i'm not even good at editing

General things such as non shaky footage and music that matches your editing style, but above all else creativity and uniqueness. Don't try and copy what others are doing, do something new that you like.

what about storyline? do you guys like to get to know the rider? Or are you more entertained by a single shot to introduce them followed by banger after banger?

lots of b roll? or just trick after trick?

A hook. People will keep watching if the footage is of something sick, or if they are constantly left what can happen next or how will the next shot be more banger. a good song helps with this.

Videos that make me want to ski are winners in my eyes. I find there's a balance between comedic value, lifestyle, and actual skiing. Totally trevor nails it.

length. very rarely do i watch a skiing video that is longer then 3-5 min.

Also the skiing. Production quality only goes so far if the content isn't good, and the content of skiing videos is the skiing.

I disagree with the music comment, a lot of the time just raw shots are best, and also, good angles and b-roll of hoodrat shit
