Playful/jibby powder skis

I've been putting off getting a new powder ski for awhile now and i've got to commit to something soon.
Theres so many options out there im getting a bit lost.
I've had EP pro's and hellbents, and really like the feel of big rocker/flat underfoot. i've skiied some newer dual camber and mellow rocker skis and they just dont have the same surfey, poppy feel ep's or hellbents had. Ive skiied some dual camber, and mellow rocker skis and they just dont do it for me. im not looking for a 120+ waist ski that carves groomers well, or behaves like that in powder. i want a bouncy, poppy, slashy, loose, ski.
I liked my ep pro's flex even though they were complete noodles, so im ok with a soft ski, but wouldnt mind something with a little more support.

I've been looking at the volkl 2 and 3, surface lab001 (can get cheap) new bentchetler, shreditor 120 and 136, RMU professor, icelantic gypsy, 4frnt yle, and probably more i cant think of right now. too many options and i want to at least narrow them down.

any advice?

I would wholeheartedly recommend Surface New Life's (or whatever name they changed it to). Roughly the same dimensions as the old Hellbents (151/122/151), but stiffer and lighter (I'm pretty sure). They hold an edge surprisingly well on groomers, but kill it when the snow gets deeper or choppy.

Just a quick reply but check out the new bentchetlers. I have been riding those the last few days and they are my new fav pow ski. They have stupidily sharp edges right now but they still pivot and slash so easily. I'm doin a full review on them but just wanted to suggest them here.

Yo he said he didn't want sometime with dimensions like hellbents but same characteristics.

I wouldnt go surface lab just because I'm not a fan of extruded bases. Also I have yles and they are playful but maybe a little too stiff and grippy than you want. Also not as much rocker.

I didnt say that i dont want hellbent dimensions, sorry if i implied that.

Id be ok with the extruded bases purely because they're cheap, literally half the price of the rest of the skis im looking at. that way if they get fucked up in a year or two i wont really care.

the YLE seems so close to perfect, if it were just flat underfoot and had a bit more rocker.

I would go new lifes or labs also. I have the yles and they sound like exactly what you dont want they have way too good edge hold

Yea i would recommend the lab or the new life. The new version of the new life is called the Balance and it just has a new graphic (I think). The lab looks so fun because of the deep dish rocker so it would be really surfy

About 40 cm of rocker. Long and mellowish, but a lot more than 4frnt advertises haha. I'd say it's playful, just thought you were looking for something super playful like hellbents.

The Shreditor 120 is crazy soft, its probably one of the softest pow sticks on the market. If you liked the hellbent, then go with the hellbent's evolution, which is the 120 and the 136. Just choose the waist you want.

definitely consider the volkl 2 and three like you said if you want that loose pivoty turn. Anything with camber underfoot is no going to pivot as good as full rocker.

If you want something more stable in the turn with a more supportive and poppy tip and tail go with they yle. I'm also a yle owner as well.

You should take a look at the new On3p Jeffreys they definitely have that surfy feel. They're stiffer than the old EP Pro's but they have enough rocker that they're real playful both not eh hardback and in the powder.

I flexed the 1.0 in a shop and that thing was a 2x4. Unless it just breaks in a lot, and the 4.0 is supposed to be stiffer..

I'm not opposed to a stiff pow ski, surface definitely makes their stiff as hell powder skis work very well as a playful ski too. I think flat camber and big rocker is a must for it to feel playfu though.

The width, light weight, and rocker profile of the 4.0 looks about ideal, i just haven't heard much at all about it.

I have the 4.0s haven't spent too much time on them though. I can tell you for sure they are stiff though. They aren't a bouncy playful ski like a Hellbent, they are a stiffer charging ski. Plenty fun still

I know they're not quite 120 underfoot but check out the Liberty Origin. I have a pair of them and they kill it all over the mountain and are pretty playful
