Midwest is Best

Everyone I ski with likes to rip on the midwest because we ain't got no vertical or cliffs, pow and all that shit, but I'm proud to have skied here and think it made me a better skier. Since an average run here lasts 10 seconds i had to pick up park skiing to keep myself entertained, but if I had cliffs and 1000+ ft of vertical i doubt i woulda hit the park. I think skiing in the midwest made me a better skier and i tried more things. What do you guys think, any midwest pride?

I love how stoked everybody is around here, especially the older skiers. We get three inches of snow and everybody packs up the car and goes skiing. We ski in crappy conditions very often but the people are what makes it fun. In the end, we still can't argue with the quality of large resorts out west.

LOL 'OP is a fagot' is tied 'ripping up the MW and loving it'.

I'm proud to ski here. Snowboarders may outnumber us park skiers 4 to 1 but it's a very tight knit community and everyone knows each other. Tow rope hot laps do have their benefit to improving your park skiing rapidly if you commit.

I find that, in the Canadian Midwest at least, there are a lot more snowboarders than freestyle skiers. Because of this, when we see other skiers around, we get stoked.

I haven't met any unfriendly "twin-tippers" out here. While the conditions may not be world-class, the overall environment in unreal, and I am glad I get to experience it. Also, when we do get to go West, we appreciate it more than anyone.

Yeah I definitely think the people make it fun. I have just as much fun hanging out with friends and messing around at the local hill as I do at bigger areas.

This is fact around here. What province you in? Manitoba? Saskatchewan? Eastern Alberta?

when people try and say that their riding reflects skateboarding it really shows in the midwest because going to a park is a lot like going to a skatepark. The parks are mainly built for snowboarders so it forces us to change our style a little bit. Transitions are usually shitty and made of ice so it forces you to get creative. plus riding rope tows gives you so many more rail hits, its almost like working out. if you go skiing for 3 hours non stop in a rope tow park you have put in a good day

Bohemia is the best for all-mountain skiers. I think it's between Granite Peak and Trollhaugen for best park.

Lol I can tell ya what a full day riding the tow rope does to the shoulders and back

East is beast? Beast is too old to be used as an adjective anymore. Im sure midwest is similar to southern east skiing. Small hills, little snow. Great vibes though.

I'm from Manitoba, but I go to the University of Saskatchewan. Most of the time I ski in Sask.

The park pretty rad and the people are awesome but the hill itself is pretty small. We got a rope tow in tha park now though

Giants Ridge in Minnesota is a hidden gem. Plenty of tree runs, cliffs, and occasional pow. They've really stepped up their park game in the past few years. This year they have one of the best park skiers I know on park crew. The plans they have for their big park are epic, it should be finished in the next two to three weeks.
