Alright so I want to start filming and my dad has a Nikon D5100, is it a good camera to film with? I've messed around with it and used it a little bit but I'm not sure if I should save up my money to buy a different one. Also, I don't know what editing software I should get, I have an acer aspire one 722 and from what I've heard it can't handle any good editing programs. Can anyone give me some help?

I'd start with that camera but tbh I'd go with a gopro eventually if you aren't much of a picture taker. That camera only shoots at 30fps at both 720 and 1080 according to Nikons website which is kinda odd... That laptop will not be able to handle much at all so you may need to stick with movie maker. Anything else will probably make your computer crash. If anything you should get a better laptop and you could even go the build your own desktop root and get some pretty good parts for price.
