SKI SEASON IN VAL D'ISERE

I'm in my last year of school and am in the process of planning a gap year before uni, hoping to spend a ski season next year (2015/2016) in val d'isere. I've looked all over the internet for advice on where to get jobs, how to go about it etc. but all I get is company advice, essentially advertising noting only positives about why I should work for them, but I've been struggling to find any personal accounts about doing a season in Val D'isere, with pros and cons of different jobs etc. I've got a year to get any experience that might help with getting jobs, I can speak fluent french, and obviously I'm a very keen skier (if that helps in giving me advice)
anyone previously done a season in val? or knows someone or somewhere to direct me to for help?

At your age, you're unlikely to score bar jobs, driving jobs, chalet hosting or rep work for UK operators. Most major companies tend to go for people aged 21+ for that kind of work. You'll probably be looking at hotel work in a room cleaning/waiter role, or a kitchen porter/nightporter role. If you're all about the skiing, go for kitchen/nightporter. The work sucks, but you get the most time on the mountain.
If you have French, then you could see about emailing local businesses (ski shops / cafes / french run hotels etc) to enquire about work. You'll get paid better but have less time to ski.
Between now and then, try and get a customer service type job if you can, it's the kind of experience employers will want. Pimp up any school activities/sports etc on your CV to show you as being mature and responsible. Turn up to your interview looking at least semi smart and present yourself as a responsible young adult and I'm sure you'll score a job.
