What Binding?

I've got some Shreditor 120s on the way, and was wondering what binding would be best for them. Don't want to spend more than 300 hopefully around 250. I have FKS 140s on my park ski currently and was thinking about getting the same binding, but if anyone had any other recommendation that would be great. Was thinking about perhaps trying out an STH2 13 or something. +K for solid responses. Cheers!

hey, what is your height, weight, skiing style, ability level, etc.this infowill really help people give solid binding recomendations. heard sth is solid but if your going to land switch at all i would stay away from fks.

6'0" 150, 3+. Sorry should have mentioned that. Seeing as it's a pow ski chances of me landing switch all that often aren't huge. Just don't know which one would be best for it.

Similar size as you, I have the STHs, they have been really solid so far. I have heard/seen that fks can be a pain to get into. STHs are super nice there... Just something to think about...

If I were you I wouldn't consider fks for skis that wide. There are better designed bindings for wider skis that will work better. I don't know specific brake widths for them but tyrolia attack 13 will work much better than the fks and be much cheaper. I also loved the feel of the newest marker griffons. Super solid binding this year (just wouldn't use it for park)

Look PX/FKS style bindings can be actually be easier. Because you can just use your hand to clamp the mechanism down. Instead of stomping down like "regular" bindings. But they can be a bitch sometimes.
STH or FKS are both solid.

OP, (you probably already know) Make sure you get the WTR if you want a durable binding.

Dont get these STH 12(not WTR just a "re-branded" Z-12)

DO get these STH 13 WTR

I have definitely felt the FKS' would be a total nuisance in pow. Just the way your leg sometimes moves would make it pop out. Honestly though how are tyrolia bindings? I was thinking griffons, but was just never a real fan of them; I would get Jesters, but a little out of my price range unless I can get a decent deal on them. Even then griffons would probably be a better deal. I hated my squires I used to have.

fks in pow... total bs... ive wrecked in some deep pow before.. and haven't had any problems. i just turn my ski over so the base is facing upwards and give a few taps. no problems with that whatsoever. and for getting into fks... total bs again... if your heel is on target with the heel piece, they click in easier than the other non dildo bindings you guys have mentioned. so if you have common sense.... fks are a killer binding but do keep in mind if you break a brake, they can be spendy to replace. other than that, they're super

Well th FKS will obviously work on pow skis, but they were never designed to efficiently transfer from edge to edge on skis that wide. The Marker and Tyrolia Toe pieces actually are designed to make this easier and give you more control over the ski. This is not bs since I have noticed considerable differences with these bindings for power transfer.

For the FKS, if you just lift the dildo to make it click with snow still in the brakes, it just makes them somewhat unsafe. They weren't designed to do that, so you will prerelease much easier (learned the hard way for that one). I've also seen FKS rip out on wider skis since they have such a small mounting pattern. This is uncommon but if you rip, then it could happen.

I used the Tyrolias and I think once more people try them out, they will become more popular than Griffons. a killer binding at a great price. I would compare them to FKS in their performance.

Sportchek has sth2 but I am unaware of the brake size it just says "One Size," however they are available in a 130mm size which would fit your skis.

Another good option in the Tyrolia Attack series bindings. Both these and Sth2 are better than griffons.

You can bend em the last 5 cms. It can be done.

Ive heard good things about Tyrolias, but don't know many people skiing them personally.

Love my jesters on my pow skis, look at last years model as you can get them for around 200-250 but if not i know the redesign in sth2 toepiece was a huge improvement and works better for pow skis i would assume (wider and metal) so cant go wrong there, but would stay away from fks for pow

I got Jester Pros the '14 model shipped from evo.com for 265 that is pretty solid.

Giving that a whirl on the skinny ski I bought. 17 din for 150 shipped. I found a sick ass 85 mm waist ski that has some length most carvers top out around 180 which is too short for me.

Seriously, everyone here thats contributed is awesome! +K all around. I actually work at sport chek funny enough. Anyways, I will most likely go with the STH2 WTRS, gonna pull some strings at my local hill and hopefully hit up a good deal on them. Cheers all you guys. I'll keep the tyrolias in mind as well. FKS for my pow skis seems out of the question. Personally my favourite binding on my park skis for sure.

Good choice on the sth2. I have both Attack 13 from tyrolia and sth2 13 from salomon. Both or killed and have their pros and cons, but in the end Id go sth2. Just because of elasticity and durabilty. Comes with a 5 year warranty from most places and is more elastic than fks. Tyrolias are super awesome too tho. They are nice and light, low to the ski, and wide. Also I haven't had any durabilty problems with them. Also Tyrolia Ramp angles are super low which makes switch riding really nice. Hope that helps a bit!
