Gaper losing his mind at Bridger

I guess this guy didn't have any avy gear and wasn't allowed to ride Schlasmans (clearly states you need it on the map as well as everywhere else) and proceeded to lose his mind and demand his money back, apparently at 3pm after skiing all day. What a dick head, funny video though.

Schlasman's is clearly displayed in the purple ridge terrain on their trail map with a note saying it's restricted.

Cut the guy a break he clearly spent his meth money on a lift ticket thinking he would be able to get a refund if he bitched enough since he wanted to ski the area that requires Avvy gear. We all know what its like to have limited funds for drugs in the winter due to skiing.



Dude probably pulls out one of his own pubes every time he eats in a restaurant and drops it in his salad to get a free meal and figured this might work.

I was under the impression pubes were included in the $3.99 breakfast special at the peppermill. Well at least that's what the girls from southern xposure told me.

I have to say it is kind of weird that it is transceiver REQUIRED to ride lift accessed terrain. I've seen a lot of chairs where its recommended and a lot of lift accessed backcountry gates where its required and enforced.
This makes me want to go to Bridger though the last time I was there that chair didn't exist.

Breakfast special at the Peppermill is graveyard only. Everything breakfast from midnight to 6am is like 6.99 even the 20 dollar steak and eggs.

I've hooked up with 2 graveyard waitresses in Cafe Milano (the 24/7 coffee shop) one time I had just met some batty crazy 40 year old lady and after I hooked up with her in my room I went back and set up a date later that morning with my waitress who had hit on me hardcore cause she was jealous.


You're thinking of Western Village in Sparks where its 3.99. That place has identical decor to the PMill inside.



Fuck man Im ready to get the fuck out of Colorado and go home just thinkin about my favorite place!

I know, right? It's not that he's not allowed to ski Schlasmans, it's that he was ill equipped for it. Plus, I'm pretty sure Bridger rents beacons for 10 dollars. People go on vacation and completely turn their brains off.

My dad left his beacon in Nevada, and was able to rent one in Bozeman. He clearly didn't have the right tools to get him down that part of the mountain safely. People can be so ignorant- it a few missed runs or your life buddy.

What people?

You just rented $10 beacons to people who in many cases presumably have no idea how to use them and aren't required to carry probes or shovels. Are we just hoping beyond hope there will be enough responsible people nearby who do have that equipment to make a rescue?

Basically, yeah. The beacon requirement optimistically makes rescue much more feasible, but it really just makes body recovery easier--in an instance where that's the case.

The mountain cannot check people's packs for shovels and probes, and they cannot require people to ski smart in avalanche terrain, and it really can't mandate any level of avalanche education. However, they can put in beacon check stations at various points, and hope some degree of intelligence/readiness precipitates out of that single requirement.

I do see people skiing smart up there, for the most part, so it seems to be working.

The ridge is in bounds, avy controlled, and patrolled. Honestly, I think BB requires it mostly to keep gapers off the ridge because there is some hairy terrain they would inevitably get stuck in.

I couldve sworn this dude was gonna cry. $52 is a great deal, its that much for my 23 trail 2000ft mountain. I mostly feel bad for the guys kids, Ive watched my dad freak at coaches and employees, its embarassing.

Yeah this what I don't get that I kind of mentioned in my last post. All I know is that this chair used to be Bridger's non lift accessed backcountry and they required avy gear so the beacon required thing is most likely just placating locals to keep traffic down. Like yeah we put a chair in but the requirements to ski this area have not changed.

Oh, okay. I gathered from discussions about this video that the lift is basically just "here you go guys, get off, welcome to the slackcountry, go knock yourselves out". If it's avy controlled, that's different.

Just spent a week in the Chamonix backcountry and the amount of Russian gapers who go out into the wild without any sort of avy gear whatsoever is actually quite amazing

yup. Its rowdy terrain that they dont want gapers getting into. The beacon thing is just one way to keep a specific demographic out, and allow a safer demographic to enjoy the terrain. Kinda similar to needing a park pass to get into the Black park on Blackcomb.

It also probly has to do with keeping crowds down- kinda like how mountains still have slow double chairs that access the GNAR so it doesnt get skied off too quick.
