Quadcopters, what do you guys use?

Hey guys, I recently purchased a starter quadcopter (hubsan x4 h107) and I love it. I've been flying it around and have pretty much mastered this thing to its capabilities. I'm in to filming/fpv quadcopters, because I like to film aerial shots, and think they bring a whole new perspective to a movie/edit.

I'm looking into buying my next level quadcopter. I'm in the 500$ range, and specifically looking for real time FPV flying, stable video, and decent range. My idea option is the Hubsan x4 h109 pro, but it doesn't seem to be coming out any time soon. Another thought of mine was a DJI phantom, but they don't offer real time FPV for under 500$. Do you guys know of any other great quadcopters I could look into that might suit my needs?

you should just make your own, costum one. that is 3 times as cheap, and you get to choose what camera you use and you can upgrade it on your own budget and knowledge

Was thinking about making this thread.

I just got the f450 (HobbyKing calls it Q450) quadcopter kit with ESC, Control Board, Brushless motors, and from for $100 of ebay. The rest of the parts you can get off HobbyKing real cheap. The Q450 is basically a knock of of a DJI kit and is 1/5 the price.

Ill probably go with a standard gimbal in the near future, and maybe an FPV setup in the further future (fpv doesnt excite me very much).

If you go this route you can do it much cheaper and have the ability to customize and upgrade as you wish

I'm not exactally sure how to build one. Should I follow a kit? Online plans? Will it have all the high end stabilization other copters would?

As for stability mine has the KK 5.5, the one in the video is a KK 2.1.5 and is a much more user friendly and sophisticated board. If you want to upgrade you can, the control board in that video is about $22

Biggest downside is no GPS unless you want to spend a little extra

If you have a local hobby shop you could go in there and ask them, some copters can use gopros with gimbals and other ones have built in cameras.

I havent built it yet, but so far the prices are as follows:

Kit: $100 from Ebay
Propellers (2 sets of 4), Bullet connectors (20 pairs): $8 from HobbyKing
TX and RX: Got from my dad, but HobbyKing has some real cheap/basic 6 channel ones for around $25
Lipos/Charger: I also got from my dad, but again check out Hobbyking

Only problem is that shipping from HobbyKing is ridiculously expensive so expect a higher total price
