Best stabilizer besides glidecam?

Name says it all. I know McFalls films with a circular one, what brand makes those? Links would be helpful.

circular one is a fig rig. I believe he made it with pvc pipe though.

And if price is no object, some electronic stabilizer is probably the "best" although the best for what it depends. Nothing's perfect. (people are really liking the dji ronin though)

im guessing you're looking for something cheaper than the glidecam? look at what flycam has and the glidegear dna 5050 or 1000

Has anyone used a stabilizer with a small or really light cam like a gopro? I haven't seen or heard of people doing it but it seems like a good way to incorporate follow cams into your pov edits but I don't know how well they work. Just curious anyway.

Glidecam makes a small stabalizer specifically for gopros. Its called the iglide or something

saw someone using one of those electronic gimbals for quadrocopters, the footage was smooth as fuck haha.

I have used one of these for a season. I personally didn't like mine, it came pretty meh and the top wobbled so I ending up epoxying it on so it wouldn't shake. Quick release is shit since it's plastic. Bottom weights and baseplate seem pretty solid for the price. It takes a while to balance it (Longer than anything I've used. Glidecam, etc) I mean you could scrape by with this but if you want super stable shots you should keep your eyes peeled for used glidecams. I bought mine used for 500 and it's the HD-4000. I've seen the HD-4000 sell for $410 on ebay before and I bet you could find the HD-2000 or XR-2000 for even cheaper than that.

i wanted the glidecam quality for less money, so i bought the Opteka version. Dang it works well.

glidegear's 5050 is pretty comparable to glidecam's hd2000 but at a more reasonable price. Having used both the build quality on the glidecam is better, but not by much. Functionality is the same and I wouldn't pick either over the other. I throw them both in the back of my car with other gear piled on top, and by no means am very careful with it and they've both stood up to the beating. Definitely a good alternative if you're not using anything over 7lbs or so

I was looking for a stabilizer system for months until I found this. Still havent pulled the trigger but I know when I have the money it will be the one. The quick adjustment knobs and carbon fiber have me sold, that along with the price it seems like the best value.

Just got a Proam Autopilot in the mail. Super impressed by the build quality and results. Definitely a great option if you're on a budget as it is on par with the glidecams I've used in the past.

A guy at my hill has a handheld gopro gimbal that he has fit into a circular pvc rig, it makes some super smooth footy.

I use a cheap polaroid "chest" rig (like 60$ or sumthing on amazon), you can reassemble it like you want and it does a good job while getting money for something better (that's what I tell myself but it's been almost two years and I'm still using the cheap rig)

A glidecam-ish stabilizer is obviously better but they are in general at least 200$ more expensive than this rig.

I would agree. Personally I did splurge on a Glidecam but my good friend has one of the Opteka version and it works brilliantly for the price. This video was filmed with it (along with a tripod)

I have an opteka steadyvid and I love it. It's a great price (120) and it works perfect. I balanced it in like 30 mins. Perfect.
