HELP! Looking for a helmet that doesn't make me a gaper

First off, sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't immediately find a close enough thread to what I'm looking for.

With that said, I've been looking at helmets online but obviously I'll buy it in person for size and steez reference. I usually always wear a BlackStrap face mask and goggles (i want to rock the goggles under my helmet), with the exception of just goggles in the summer, so I want something with good padding (not removable padding either) and also NO EAR MUFFS. I have an old Bern helmet but it has zero steez, not to mention it's too small.

I've been peeping the Poc Receptor Bugs and Receptor +s but I also like the ProTec Bucky for the old school style.

Also no bills.

i feel that but my homies girlfriend just got in a ski crash and has been in the hospital unconscious for a few days. pretty scary

If you still like bern then i would recommend the macon. I have it and its super comfy and snug plus it doesn't make you look like a gaper

Poc helmet looks dope, never rode in one though

Protec is alright, I'v used one for Dirt Jumping not sure how the would do on snow though. Also doesn't looks as structurally strong as the poc

Ok. The purpose of a helmet is to keep you safe, not look cool. They all look a little goofy. Buy one that fits you comfortably so that you will wear it. A helmet is no goof if it's sitting in the lodge because it's uncomfortable.

A friend of mine hit a tree one day. The doc told her she should have died. The helmet took all of the impact of the tree and split in half, and saved her life. I sold her that helmet a week prior. As soon as she got out of the hospital she came in to buy another one. I've worn a helmet every day since.

I wear the Smith Maze helmet (along with a number of my friends), and so far it beats any other helmet that I have worn (protection and steeze)

Ive been in Giros new(ish) style combyn helmet the last two seasons, and i took my first real digger to the dome a week or two ago in it and DAMN. way impressed. the new foam they developed is where it's at. You can find traditional EPS helmets that are a tad lighter, but the foam in the combyn and the brimmed version (forget the name) is way good. It is multi impact and rate sensitive, so not only can you bash your skull over and over in this thing, but it also doesn't hurt in a minor ringer like a single density EPS foam, which barely absorbs the small hits, and is really only there to save your ass if shit hits the fan hard. I fell from about 10 feet up straight to the side of my head, was in mid air thinking my day/week/season was done, and instead I got up and didnt feel a freakin thing.

Oh yea, its also specifically designed to fit better with gogs under it than over it.

If you don't feel like removing the earflaps just buy a skate helmet. I bought a tsg one and it's the same thing as their winter one just no earflaps and waaaay cheaper.


Also I'm pretty sure that making a thread on how not to be a gaper, makes you a gaper

For anybody wondering, i got the Classic Bucky. Couldn't be more stoked on the fit and the fact is was a quarter of the price of a POC. gonna be laughing at my friends who dropped that kind of money on theirs

just wanted to reconfirm my comment, I took a huge fall straight to my head today was certain i wouldn't make it out with anything less than a concussion and this lid ate it up like it was nothing. I really cant stop praising what giro has done with this helmet. Im not sponsored or anything, just super thankful I had such a quality product on my skull today and I really cant recommend anything else for park. EPS helmets are totally dead to me at this point. I literally didn't even have a headache or anything, the way it absorbs the impact is amazing.
