My hill nothing is over $7, and the pasta is the most delicious thing ever. Also a hot dog and fries is $4. When I go to other hills though the prices are crazy and the food is meh, so I just bring my own food.
Obligated to say cheeseburger and fries. But other good options, especially if you're with friends, are nachos or pizza. Nachos at resorts.are always massive and you can split the cost. And pizza, well it's pizza. If you don't like it you're not human.

Chili bread bowl is always clutch. Especially if you spend a few minutes just hanging out with the person who adds the toppings, you can usually get them to add way more than normal.
The fries at pebble creek are the bomb. And you buy a little tray/carton thing, and however many fries you can get in it without fries falling off, is how much you get. Pretty nice actually. Only $3 and if your stacking skills are good like mine you can feed yourself and a friend very well. Sometimes were full before the carton is empty.
The French and swiss Alps are graced by an overabundance of small crepe stands.
So apart from the occasional bottle of water and bar in my bag nothing else.
If I need more then a quick bite there are cafe's and restaurants draped over every Alp.
-Find half eaten poutine that someone hasnt finished (pretending you are a bus boy works well here)
-Return half eaten poutine under the pre tense that they put too much gravy
-Get new poutine for free
I kinda like the Traveling Circus' approach. Bring a Jetboil camp stove and cook whatever you want on the cheap.
If I'm buying food though, theres a resort near me that has an adobe pizza oven that makes the best wood fire cooked pizza ever. It's pricey, but so worth it.
DUUUDES!! the food at Whitewater BC is fuckin AMAZING, at most places its just piss up a butt but Alyeska (my home mountain :) ) has pretty good shit too like board head sandwiches and uber epic nachos! yeeah, quality food and skiing is the best combo.

Chocolate crepes
So perfect.
I prefer them with banana and rum combined with the chocolate..
In St. Moritz and I guess the whole Engadin area they have this Engadiner Nussetorte..really tastefull..
(the filling is made of roasted walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts in a mix of caramelized honey with whipped cream) Combine that with a solid espresso and a good view and you'll have a good time..

Of the few times I've been there this is amazing. Also, I have gotten 2 mini boat carton tray things, put them side by side, twice the ability to stack.

Yep we do this too when theres a big group of us. Usually it's just me and another so we do one but when there's like 5 of us we get 2 and can feed the mountain haha
i bring most of my food cold pizza is the shit daily. but the burrito and cheese fry combo at vail is my shit. pretty cheap too only 25$...
fcuk liav pricing
My hill tore down thier chalet so our temporary chalet is construction trailers so needless to say the food is pretty low key, its litteraly gas station food that you could buy from a holiday that they buy increase the price so that its 3x the original price at the gas station.
i knew some of the guys who worked in the kitchen and got them to slip some chicken fingers under my poutine. it had to be the tastiest mountain food ive ever had.
Fuck buying food at the mountain. I just bring my mini propane grill and stop at walmart in the morning and grab a pack of hotdogs, buns and some powered (cost like $7 and feeds 2). We just take the ketchup and mustard from the lodge.
Slope side country club...check. Guarantee my lunch is better than 99% of mountains in the world. In and out in an hour or so and can get 5 star quality food in my ski boots
