So I snapped my poles last season and was wondering if it might be a good time to try out skiing without poles this year. I've used poles my whole life and ski a decent amount of all mountain so I don't know if it's a bad idea or not I'm just lazy/broke and don't wanna buy new ones. What do you guys think because my friends tell me it's an advantage to have no poles in the park

op ive ditched poles to ride all over the mountain and the pow. ill never go back unless i have to tour. in the park its super easy to get grabs and is just plain fun. the first few jumps and runs you take without poles might be rough, because poles do aid your balance and sometimes help you land. one you get your balance and get used to it, its so much more fun. so theres my expericance now go shred without your poles. #nopolesnoprobs

Why don't you go try skiing with out poles a few times and then decide for yourself whether or not its a good idea. If you like it then stay with it, and if you don't then go pick up some poles. There is absolutely zero advantage over not having poles, so do what you like

Skiing park without poles is fine and is actually pretty fun but trying to carve, ski moguls, and pow without poles is hard going because they're pretty essential for having the right technique.

go the the thrift store and get some $5 poles and use a hacksaw to cut them down the right size, or steal them from the ski school/ rentals

you might look a little odd off the first few jumps, but once you get your balance down you'll be killing it

advantage to not having poles is skiers thumb and that is why I occasionally ski without them, plus its more fun and grabs are easier

honestly skiing with out poles is easier to me. Except when skiing through mogul fields.

More fun is really subjective. I don't feel that it's more fun, and grabs aren't even slightly tough with poles. Skier's thumb is the only real advantage I could see to not having poles, and even then you can still get it without poles although it's less likely.
