Grinding boxes vs rails

Im getting in to park skiing this year and recently I learned how to grind a fat box. As I get more comfortable with variations and gap-ons, I will be moving on to rails. is there a difference in technique when it comes to rails vs boxes? what do you have to do differently when your grinding a skinny box, or a rail, compared to a fat box? Any help is appreciated thanks.

When your grinding rails it is pretty much the same as grinding fat boxes in the technique you use its just that you have to be way more precise. I would move from a fat box to a box rail to a fatter metal rail then to regular rails

On a box, you don't necessarily need to lock as much as on a rail. Slowly go to skinnier boxes and then to rails

So many noobs... First of all this should be in the ski gabber forum. Second of all make sure you use the searchbar or use google to filter ns (guide on how to in site disscussion) third of all try joing a cult or looking in cult forums specifically at the trick tip one.

doesn't look like you are too far from a noob either lol. Anyway, the difference between boxes and rails is pretty much the lock on. when you are going on a box all you really do is jump on it and slide. On a rail you have to scissor your skis in order to stay on. Start on wider flat rails then work yourself up.

listen to him, this is my exact thoughts but im too lazy to type them. just start to scissor on whatever you can, and then the skinnnier rails will become a lot easier. then once you know how to lock onto rails, spinning out will be an easy next step

I mean ive been a member for 3 years haha just post in spurts so lol but good advice. Im just kinda fed up with all of this posting of threads in the wrong places lately and same threads over and over ya know?
