Moguls switch

May be a dumb question, but can people do em really good switch. I think someone would score really well if they did a 5 grab off the last jump, then did the rest of the moguls switch.

i think that would be the uglyiest gayest thing ever. it would look so dumb, maybe turning around and going switch right before the jump that would be cool or landing switch then turning around right away but doing the moguls switch would be ugly

It would be so technically difficult to do them switch, a switch take off would be sweet, but I don't know if there's enough time to set up for it.

you would lose all your points because it would be impossible to them with the same amount of speed as you could normally, and speed is 50% of the issue

actually i remember friends coming back from the first summer of high north with stories of JF skiing the compression line of like 5 bumps switch fast as hell. no turns in it, but super deep bumps, that seems pretty sick too me.

yeah it's impossible to 'ski' them you can just rip through a few of them and stay on the tops of the bumps. but if you think about it you can only absorb so much with your knees before you're on your ass and getting mogul-raped.

It would be cool. I thought about a couple years ago during one of my sister's basketball games.

some skiers are taking off or landing backwards and reverting, and doing it well. but like noteefa said (surprisingly intelligent), the speed is too important to sacrifice by taking time to go backward. so you would end up risking your dome for little reward in the current amateur scoring format.

i thought about this one also, the only good way to do it is to 180 off the last bump before the jump then land forward. but like someone here said already the speed and the break of form problem could be too much for the competitor to even attempt it.

Good luck skiing moguls switch, the way your legs bend it just doesn't work. Switch take offs have been done before though, not super difficult.

a few years ago i did a 9 then landed and skid about 10feet of bumps then switched around.....i like it better when people do a 1 off a bump then go off the jump

first off for going into the jump switch in moguls is not allowed that jump would not count.... goin off the last bump in the course and doign a 180 wouldnt work cuz ud jump over the sensors and ur run would not count and ive tried doing moguls switch and i almost died

Believe it or not,but it is allowed to take off switch.You are also allowed to land switch.Check freestyleski.com buddy.

Sitch in mogals are legal,but it doesnt bring any extra points. But it is possible but difficult.I know im in a acrobatic team.

Funny someone should mention this... I had a very real dream that i competed in the Whistler winter olympics, cause there was an opening. I went head to head with Jon Olsson, and whipped him, while skiing switch down a freestyle course.

It was pretty cracky.

guy i just got done reading the rule book tru u can ski them switch but ur not allowed to go off the jumps switch and u can come out switch but ur run doesnt get scored cuz u will probably jump over teh sensors

Trust me, switch takes offs and landings are allowed as crazy as it sounds. I kinda started trying them at beginning of year just for shits and giggles, but its not a logical thing to do in the middle of a mogul run.

And all the DD's in your rulebook were revised. Alot of the jump related stuff in it got changed. http://ussa.org/PublishingFolder/assets/Files/fsmogulddmen.pdf This is the new DD chart and it lists switch take offs and landings.

if you weren't allowed to take off or land switch, or if they didn't score it, you could just petition FIS like moseley did to get the heli mute and dinner roll scored. it would be a matter of taking the right steps, so the judges know what they are looking at.

i don't know why they have those stupid regulations in mogul comps...no inverts...what the fuck....why? Sorry I am not a bumps skier and just want to know what makes them say no inverts?

because if they allowed inverts some crazy aerialist would come and fucking kick everyones asses.

and a switch/landing switch spin would score really bad since a 540 would be considered a failured 720, and so on... thats why

A 540 would actually be considered what it is now, still not a very logical thing to do in the middle of a mogul run sicne you'd lose a bunch of speed points.
And moguls are starting to turn into aerials now that they allowed inverts, people have been throwing double full in comp and training double backs.

AD1080, as far as I know, moseley threw before breck in practice, but the morning of the world cup at breck, he threw it and it went well, so Cooper, his coach, told him to throw it. I believe there was some discussion with the judges and moseley took an extra demonstration run down the bottom section to show them what the heli mute is supposed to look like, and it was on from there. He could not have won if they didn't know what they were scoring.

and Switchstyle, inverts are allowed in bumps. They were not allowed until 2003. I agree it's lame that some things were not allowed, but now all tricks are allowed from D10 to triple twister, to double-full. ideally, you could show up and throw whatever you want and they would judge it, but the judges need to have things brought to their attention and learn to score them so that they can score consistently and theoretically the best runs will win. The judges just aren't on the scene enough to know what they're looking at without clinics and video reviews.

ive tride riding the moguls switch
its really hard but just to do like a switch 180 of the first jump isnt that hard just tunr around to switch right off the last bump before the jump
