Sego Skis: Made in Teton Valley

Greetings everyone, my name is Ben and I'm excited to introduce a new ski manufacturer, Sego Ski Co., based in Victor, ID. Sego is excited to offer four different models ranging from 98mm to 124mm underfoot for the 14/15 season, with plans to add a fifth and potentially sixth model in 15/16. All of our skis feature Maple/Aspen blend cores, which are CNC shaped and profiled in house along with the bases and sidewalls, 3/4 wrap edges, Durasurf 4001 bases, and years of ski design and construction experience.

We are proud to join the short list of true American ski manufacturers, and will be offering our skis factory direct, including a personalized ski fitting over the phone or online for the 14/15 season. The full line up is available for demo from our Victor, ID store and I will post updates regarding upcoming public demos as our plans are finalized.

Flat tail, rockered tip, 4mm camber, 28m radius, full length carbon stringers

The Cleaver 133-106-121
Lengths: 181, 187
Flat tail, rockered tip, 3mm camber, 31m radius

The Prospect 136-110-127
Lengths: 167, 174, 181, 187
Rocker and taper in tips and tails, 5mm camber, 27m radius, our most playful ski

The Saskatoon 138-124-134
Lengths: 184, 191
Radius matched full rocker and sidecut, tapered tips and tails, full length carbon stringers, textured polyamide topsheet

Your stuff looks nice but I can't help but cringe whenever I hear sego. Why did you need something so close to saga?

im fairly impressed. but there's a few things that kind of turn my off when just looking at the website.
1. i like when manufacturers list the base thickness and edge thickness. you guys say you use 4001 bases, but how thick?

2. most likely my biggest turn off- but i would really like to see a camber profile shot. you say in the description what/type of rocker the ski has, but how much? before dropping 700 bucks on a ski i want to know how many cm of rocker and an image of the camber profile.

other than that, i really like the company, and think you guys have a ton of potential. - just my 2 cents worth, peace out yo

Thanks for the feedback thus far everyone. We are in the process of creating rocker profile images, and they will be on the website and posted here in the next week or so.

We use 2.2mm Durasurf for our base material, although the applied difference between "extra thick" bases and standard thickness, say, 1.8mm, is minimal.

A crucial part of determining which will be better is how flat the ski comes out of the press. A ski with 1.8mm base that requires hardly any grinding on the belt to get it true will likely leave the factory with a thicker base than a ski built with 2.2mm base that came out of the press base-high.

That being said, we use thicker than average base and edge because we are currently focused on building bomber, in bounds oriented skis. Our future touring specific models may utilize different materials to save weight, but that remains to be seen.

really nice looking website and top sheets, non of the skis really appeal to me though. good luck with your company!

Also it looks like most of your skis are directional. The 98mm ski looks pretty nice but a flat tip is not awesome for switch landings. Maybe one of the skis you are gonna bring in the line could be a freestyle oriented ski? Just a thought. Also like @shin-bang said, give as much info/details you can on the site. That way the customer knows and you don't get bombed with 30 emails for someone wanting to know more about the ski.
