Well when I had Chromecast all it was capable of was streaming whatever you were watching on your computer to a TV, there wasn't any option to watch cable TV. From what I understand Roku has the TV part so as someone who has had Chromecast I wish I had Roku instead.
What cable provider do you use and will be using to log in with? If it is comcast and you are looking for HBOGO, roku doesnt work. For some reason Roku and comcast don't have a deal so you won't be getting HBOGO.
I have used Amazon Fire, Chromecast, Roku, and Apple TV. Unless you have all apple devices Chromecast is the way to go. Easy to use once you figure it out and you can mirror your screen on any device. Just know that you will be using your device as a remote and for streaming. The Chromecast just lets you put it to the TV.
So if you are trying to load netflix, you will find the movie you want to see on your phone first, hit the icon, then it will be on your TV. I didn't know that at first, haven't had a problem with it though. Just make sure your device has battery.
