BEST POWDER IN LATE MARCH

You will never be able to get guaranteed powder and backcountry conditions as late as march. There are places that get lake effect snow though but I'm not sure where. I live on the East coast but this year I'm going out west for the second time and this is just what I've heard.

Colorado has some killer snow in March, its typically our snowiest month. And spring break is a fucking blast in summit

I went to Park City during spring break last year. There was at least a foot of fresh at the highest elevations 2 out of 3 days I skied there. I got first tracks in McConkey's bowl in skinny park skis but I could've cared less, I felt like I was dreaming.

so do you want to do backcountry? or just Pow? no where in the world on a set date i powder guaranteed(on resorts at least)
if you are going into the legit backcountry, please make sure you are both an extremely confident and skilled skier in all conditions before making the trek into the ever so fun backcountry and bring the proper equipment i'm not trying to hear about another tragedy especially involving a fellow NS'er.

if you just want powder, colorado is always pretty good later in the year. just so u know you are going very late so most likely the conditions won't be perfect ski movie blower pow, but if you are coming from a tiny midwest hill the skiing anywhere out west will be like nothing you've ever done and will surely be fun as hell

If it even existed, it'd get tracked out so fast, you wouldn't even get to ski it.



Really though, most places are going off in late March. The main downfall of the skiing world is that everyone has blinders on for December/Holidays when the early season is so damn unpredictable and some places might not even be open by the holidays. Late March on the other hand... Easter weekend seriously needs to be thought of in the mind of a skier as the new Christmas in terms of when you should take your ski vacation. Longer daylight hours, better travel conditions, a full seasons snow pack to get everything filled in nicely, and if you're lucky - you get one of the frequent spring storms that can make for some of the best skiing conditions of the whole season. It's a shame everyone has given up on skiing by that time and is just waiting for the bike trials and golf courses to open up.
