Powder butter 3

how in the fuck do you do this? i can butter 3, 5, and even 7 (on occasion) but for the life of me i cannot figure out how the hell to do this in powder. is there some secret tip people have because it looks so unbelievably fun when you have it locked. i want to learn it so bad, but oh my god i cannot seen to get enough pop to bring around the switch 180.

any good tips earn K+
Please NS help a brother out, vail is getting 10 inches to night and want to get on this tomorrow.

There are different techniques/styles of butters so that could be your problem. I can't speak for you, but when I butter 3 on hard pack I do the entire pivot [butter] on the front tips of my skis; but in pow I transition from a nose butter to a tail butter at 180 when doing a 3.

try not to torque your body around too much spinning 180 to switch. save it all for spinning back from switch to normal. thats how i got it down in the deep. i cant get a lot of pop either but being able to spin fast from switch gets it done

so i was trying this on park skis, but at first i was thinking - pop 180 to nose, then another pop then 180 to tails. but i would always putt too much force on my noses and slip out and put my face in the snow. what i found out, and tested it, is to basically huck a 3 as one whole motion and it will come around a ton easier. so like, if you try to do two separate 180s i always cant bring it around. just remember... huck it decently hard, in one smooth motion. (note. this works for me, other people may have different techniques)

^this too. if youre doing it off of a small lip you can just throw the 3 as a whole motion and be light on your tips

What kind of skis do you have? Fat tips make it pretty easy, just have to pull around around a little harder and speed is your friend

im on some jeffery 114s and i actually got one today! took a couple tries but i ended up popping 180 and setting the spin for the second 180 on my way around and leaning super far forward and some how when i put a shitload of weight on my noses the pow almost doubled my switch pop and it came around super easy. i only landed it twice and i need to tweak it to achieve consistency but i'm pretty stoked that i was even able to get it done.
