so I'm going out skiing tomorrow and i want to try hitting my first rail and i was wondering if i could get any tips and pointers for them

Pop, then turn as two separate movements. When you pop, turn your body sideways but leave your tips facing straight. When your tips have cleared the rail, rip them over.

I learned by lining the rail up between my skis. That way when you pop and turn the rail is directly beneath you. Instead of going on from the side.

lean forward, the most common thing is to slip out backwards

Make sure you come from one side and pop up and rotate 90 degrees, try to keep your skis about shoulder width apart. I like to put my back foot on slightly before my first but you'll get an idea once you commit once or twice.
