Why do Girls Hate the Word Moist

From a linguistic perspective, it's because the word contains a dipthong. A dipthong is basically a double vowel sound, where you blend the two vowel sounds together. English doesn't have many of these, so it sounds "wrong" hence our natural dislike of the word regardless of connotation.

This explanation is horseshit and pisses me off. While there are only a handful of diphthongs in the English language, those sounds appear in hundreds of words in the English language. There is no psycho or sociolinguistic connection to diphthongs and our preference for those words.
