I know I know I know he came up with some great new tricks and did a lot for freesking...but

BUT his latest work/blog/Vlogs are just pathetic. He literally looks like he forgot how to ski....Time to retire, and the posh outerwear. Sorry I just had to get it out :D

Still big respect to the man, but probably for the past achievements...

-The dude hasn't been on freestyle skis in at least 3 or 4 years.
-He is recovering from a torn acl and the first time he has gone off a jump in years was like 3 weeks ago

I don't care who you are but you take that much time off from anything and are dealing with a major injury, it's going to take a few months to get back to speed. He will also be the first one to admit that he has sucked at rails his entire career.

Chill out with your judgement of him over a video he posted 1 month into the season because I bet he's going to be back to his old self come March.

I used to really not like on at all for some reason idk why, but he always seemed a little bit stuck up to me but after watching this video my whole perspective on him has completely changed. Hes obviously in it for the love of the sport and i give him mad props. keep it up Jon, cant wait to see some more from him.

He is no longer involved with the company and as a result is back on POC's for all headwear. He has mentioned it once or twice in his blog.

His outerwear is definitely not my style either, but im happy that he is rocking his own style still and not just following along with the trends. People say the same sort of stuff about the tight pants in Real skifi, but if it wasn't for outliers this sport would be so boring.

True. I remember watching his blog years ago when he was on top of the big air scene, and he couldn't even land a basic pretzel. Good times, it gave me hope.

jon didn't get to where he is and do everything he's done for the sport by being bad or reckless.

he's had a career in skiing longer than ten years and for most of it never had a single major injury while people around him dropped like flies (he was there to see both tanner and dumont take their infamous falls in 2005, for instance)

he's super calculated and he's not gonna toss dubs his first day back in years to impress some doucher on the internet

Always had a ton of respect for the guy and back in the day he was at the top of the class alongside other hall of famer's like tanner and candide. But.................. I'm kinda curious how this works out for him, I think he's going to struggle to maintain motivation and return to his previous skill level, I could be wrong though

Give him till march and he'll be back in freeskiing shape.

I don't think motivation is a problem for Jon. He made it to WC level racing based off of something like a $15,000 bet. I think the big hurdle will be how his body holds up over the season. Crashing sucks.

Side note: Jon's lifestyle is fucking outrageous. If you follow his blog, you know what I'm talking about. I realize that he has made some really good business decisions and is a genius when it comes to representing his sponsors, etc. but I still don't understand how he has amounted such a seemingly large net worth. Pretty damn impressive.

i cant believe little kids are buying this "sandbagging", downplaying skill level is pretty cheap... two shots of jon sliding rails with race edges and he claims to suck... while in reality hes worked out all his doubles and triples on tramps and water ramps last week, all while "practicing" with $100,000 high end film equipment!!!!

Yeah, that too, might not be too motivated after getting his salad tossed a few times haha

I kinda think it might be tougher than he thinks, but if anyone can do it, it would be Jon, I bet he's still in peak physical condition and he has all the resources at his disposal.

My interpretation/understanding of tossing one's salad is vastly different from yours.


As for his physical condition, he has been training in a crossfit-style environment so I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the best shape of his life.

Hey madcult, does this a 32 year old who has been hitting jumps for a month after a 4 year break and acl tear look washed up? Looks like he is getting his skills back pretty quickly.
