C'mon Surface

so heres the story, i work in a ski shop i get discounts on the best companies and its the best gig ever, only problem is i cannot use my discounts to purchase anything for anyone else but myself. my little brother needed some new planks so for his birthday we decided to buy him a pair of skis, but since i cant use a discount we searched high and low for the perfect pair of skis. he asked specifically for a "do it all colorado ski" he asked for a minimum of 100 underfoot platform and a maximum of 100 underfoot platform. all kids skis a my shop are $$$ so we finally decides to order from another shop. after about 3 days of searching we came across an amazing deal on some surface next lifes. according to surface these skis are 100 underfoot tip and tail rockered grom pow ski with a 6 OUT OF 10 MEDIUM FLEX. when the skis arrived and we surprised my brother he was more stoked than i've seen him about getting a gift ever, and i have to admit they looked pretty damn sweet. the rocker pattern was way more abrupt than any other skis id seen but they actually looked like a sturdy flexy kids pow ski, i was impressed at first. under his orders the skis were not allowed to leave his room or be taken out of the plastic until we went into my shop to buy bindings and get them mounted. this is where the story goes south. he picked out some soloman 10 binding and i take them down to the basement to mount-cal-wax the skis, but as i remove the plastic my hand slips and i accidentally support my weight of the ski for just a second. when i say my weight i mean all of it. just about all 155 pounds of my bodyweight is pressing firmly down on a pair 145 kids skis leaning against a wall. the ski didnt flex. at. all. it may have flexed an inch or two but it was clear something was off. i quickly tested the flex of the ski in a proper manner, i have never seen a stiffer pair non-race of skis sold to anyone, adult or child. these skis have quickly become a shop wide joke as they are a skiable death trap and are (as described by our head of ski merch sales) "the most dangerous pair of skis i have ever laid eyes on". they were actually stiffer than my co-workers slalom race skis (that have a metal plate in them with the sole purpose of making them), as well as any other pair of skis in the shop (excluding a few pairs of GS skis). maybe they would be medium flex with the same core on a 200cm ski but on a 145cm ski it is just ridiculous. my brother is an incredibly amazing skier, but he is 11 years old and weighs 83 pounds and there is absolutely no chance of him being able to turn such a stiff ski. not to mention the next lifes are advertized as a medium flex KIDS ski, when in reality they are literally stiffer than and adult race ski.

Sparknotes: bought some surface new lifes for younger brother in a size 145. advertized as a medium flex ski (5.5-6.5 out of ten on surfaces flex scale). in reality ski is stiffer than 99% of alpine adult skis which a grom could never turn or flex. both of my bosses agree (i work at a ski shop)ski is "an actual deathtrap".
