Filming frustration?

I don't film, but my friends usually want to film me and I have solid tricks, but not great consistency. I feel like after I don't land anything worth using for a while, they might get annoyed and have a bad mentality about filming more throughout the day. This has caused me to turn them down from filming me from the day on some occasions.

For the people who actually film, what does it take for you to get tired of filming someone who isn't consistent/not getting the tricks you want to see, not landing anything/or just not up to your standards of skill?

I don't want to make this sound like I am 12, but I just want to hear what other people think about it.

I can kind of understand. Usually it helps filming more than one person, because someone is usually at least going to get one trick. I don't really get frustrated, but it can get a little boring filming if no one is landing any tricks, and I feel like I could be skiing instead of filming.

At the end of the day, don't take it too serious, and ski to have fun.

I feel that if they offered to film then thats their problem if they want to stop. They should know your consistancy. And if you asked them and they agree its still on them. Maybe swap out every once and a while

Filming people fall all day is just as great as filming people land tricks all day. It makes for cool crash edits and stuff and you can really help people progress with their style and what is going wrong in their trick.

If the homies are falling, their trying... If I whip out the camera its usually when I see stuff that needs to be filmed.

They probably don't care man. I think I helped pull bungee something like 80 times for a 10 second clip, the only thing I was thinking was damn this will be cool as shit when he lands it. I doubt they'd be annoyed or anything, not really much to be sour about in the end anyways.

^Apparently you can't use a "less than sign" anymore..

I get frustrated when they blame you filming them as the reason they aren't landing anything.

Sure, consistency and tricks are part of the equation, but the point of filming is to capture tricks that you can't get every time. Attitude is what really matters, also, as a phototg/filmer I look at this from the exact opposite perspective of you. I'm always worried that the people I film are feeling obligated to take risks for the camera or are doing things that they don't find fun. Really, I think the responsibility lies on the filmer, not the athlete, unless they are pro, or trying to get sponsored then it's the riders responsibility to get after it.

wow after hearing this I have a new mentality about being filmed.

I always try to just do pretend they aren't filming since my style is whack if I know theres a filmer, but if they feel like its up to me, I definitely won't feel pressure about their expectations.

Yeah, filmers and athletes have a really interesting relationship. I'll get around to writing something on it someday

Not being able to use an original ASCII character in NS's fancy GUI is something to be way more frustrated about.

If they aren't even committing to it and it's evident then it may piss off the filmer.
On the other hand if you aren't feeling the trick don't be afraid to ask the filmer to stop. Just don't get mad and lash out on the filmer.
