Just to even fathom something that huge. 690 miles long, and plates shifting as much as 30 feet. I mean, holy shit. If anyone is good at math, the way to detirmine intensity for earthquakes comepared to each other is such. If you have 2 quakes... X and Y. log(Iy/Ix) - log(Iy/Ix)
So for instance, if you have a quake of y = 8 and one of x =6. The difference between the two logs is 2. Then you take that log which is 2 and put it on a base 10. So 10^2 = 100. Meaning the difference between X and Y, is that Y is 100 times more intense than X.
