connecticunt. However I also think that there's more than one way to take down a threat. Tasers are extremely effective at taking someone down, using a gun when necessary is also fine, but I think cops should be trained to shoot not to kill, but to eliminate the threat. If you shoot someone in the shin, shoulder, hand, or thigh, they're really not going to be much harm.
I really hate when people say this. cops and military are trained to shoot to stop the threat. in my situation I dont want to kill someone, but if they are trying to board my plane, or over take my aircraft then I am going to shoot them until they stop. The norm for training is two to center mass and one to the head. when people are on drugs or alcohol even a shot to the chest will not stop them immediately.
chest is number one target. if that is not working it is the head. then third is the hips. that is pretty standard procedure for most law enforcement agencies, and it is standard training for military.
Now to aiming at their hand or foot or their leg. first i will say this, we all like to think cops are amazing shooters. it is not hard to qualify to carry those guns. yes they will hit their target, but a human is a pretty big target. narrowing that down to their damn pinky is not going to happen. and second goes with what I said early, we shoot to stop the threat. in that situation there is a lot going on. it is much easier to rely on that training and aim center mass. even in my own home self defense that is what I will do. I do not know what this person is capable of and I want to subdue them as quickly as possible. it is not like hollywood where one shot and the person goes flying and gives up. if they are forcing someone to shoot them they clearly have a purpose and arent giving up very easily.
