Skiing Mine Tailings?

Found this old mine over the summer in Vermont and I came up with the idea that if there is enough snow, the tailings, large piles of gravel, could be skied on. Not really sure if it would work or not but I don't really see why it wouldn't as this is basically what Chads Gap is made of. Has anyone done this before and should I try it?

God dammit this comes up every year. Don't do it.

It is more likely to slide than stay since there's zero snow anchors. Yes you might get lucky and get some good turns if the base is perfectly stacked but it's overwhelmingly not a good idea to ski the shitpile.

Imagine it sliding on you and dragging you to the bottom- if you're ok you're still now being prosecuted since you trespassed and the guard that is there every day watched you do it.

If it is an active , or recently closed mine there is very good chance you will be charged with trespassing. In many jurisdictions, trespass on a mine or mining plant is more serious than trespassing elsewhere.

The comments regarding snow stability are sound, If you are skiing out of the resort, you need to be able to properly calculate the risk of avalanche, and be prepared for self rescue.

There is no risk of exposure to toxins or heavy metals from simply skiing such a slope.

....If you have to ask the internet "is this a good idea", the answer is no. It shows that you are lacking the requisite knowledge and judgment to safely accomplish the task.
