onenerdykidFor starters, you don't have to buy new skis and the shop does not owe you new skis. You are, however, entitled to some sort of compensation.
Before that happens, we need more details. What skis are they? Is there a mark that says "center"? Were you clear what type of center you wanted (balance center, sidecut center, camber center, length center)? Did you physically mark on the ski where you wanted the boot sole?
If you simply said "center" without marking on the ski what exact version of center you meant, then it might not be entirely their fault. Knowing what ski it is and what markings on are on the top sheet will help us.
CashBrah2013 volkl ledges, If remounting them is an option, what kind of effect is it going to have on them.
mikemoosei have the exact same ski and my shop did the same, they were mounted an inch or two back from true center. However it doesnt seem to make a huge difference to me
steeze4daysSorry noob over here!
Whats the big deal about having your bindings mounted ever so slightly off centre?
Is there any advantage on having bindings mounted true centre?
Whats the standard for mounting?
are most bindings mounted true centre?
onenerdykidHaving your bindings mounted at center is very beneficial for skiing both forwards and backwards (switch). However, some (like myself) argue that you should only mount your bindings at center if your ski was designed to be ridden at center, as is the case with fully symmetrical skis (symmetrical shape and/or flex). Skis that are asymmetrical are better off being mounted not at length center since they were never designed for that. But, many people still do it and like it.
CashBrahIve never had this problem happen before because i always got them mounted at a different place, but i made sure that they knew i wanted them true center. A week later I get them back and without checking i take them home. When i got home i noticed that the boot arrow was pointing at 2cm back. I signed a paper at the shop saying that I gave them permission to work on my skis. The skis were never purchased at the shop, but the bindings were. So I'm wondering if they are going to refund the money and buy me new skis or if I am going to have to buy new ones.

amieastcoastyetAsk for TRUE CENTER
All your problems will be solved like mine hopefully will when i drop my skis off at the shop tomorrow.
