Night skiing lenses

I searched for a thread on this but couldn't find one. What is a good lens color for night skiing, other than clear. I'm looking at some Spy goggles, but in general is there a good lens?

probably cause it's not hyphy. When ou say night skiing, do you mean you live somewhere where the hill is lit or is it just getting dark out? just get clear, they have the highest vlt, it's a pretty easy decision.

I'm skiing at a hill with hours from 3pm-10pm so its definitely night skiing. Nothing is wrong with clear, I am just looking at Spys and they dont have any clear lenses right now

spy has clear lenses on their site. Persimmon has a high vlt too, check the doom goggle on their site, there's lots of lens options and it lists the vlt.

Most lenses are going to be too dark for night skiing.

I only use clear or a bright yellow lens for night

I rarely ever use goggles at night (Or anytime for that matter) but if it is really cold out or snowing I will either use my clear lense or Hi-Yellow.

Honestly clear actually isnt the best even in super low light, sure they are easy to see through but they offer no definition in the flat light. My favorite lenses at night are probably the red sensor mirror on smith I/O. Surprising how much light gets through, but they add so much more definition to the terrain than a clear lens.

background: I ski for hours every night in shitty conditions being a ski instructor in Minnesota

Clear is not supposed to be used in low light, it's specifically made for night skiing / riding. Night conditions is not the same as low light. Low light is essentially a shadow. You are not looking for contrast and definition at night, the lights already provide that.

I know some people prefer a really light rose for dark conditions. I always liked Spy's blue lens, it was awesome for anything other than sunny.

I'd like to point out that skiing at night with lights on the hill would be considered low light. And the lights honestly cast such horrible shadows most of the time that they create huge zones of flatlight. Most people I know who night ski either go no goggles or something with a slight tint to help bring out definition.

I'm not a fan of persimmons or any colored lens at all at night. I've tried it all but have found that they all just make it more difficult to see. Just go with clear if you feel more comfortable with goggles on rather than without.
