Does anyone actual sharpen there edges?

Ok, I am going to be honest. Detuning your edges is one of the most stupid things a skier to do. I don't see how it "helps" on rails. I am a big dude and I hit rails pretty hard and never catch my edge. It the only way you can truly control your self while skiing on all that damn park ice.

I filed down the edges on my new skis, cause I would catch easily, and sparks would always fly. And I don't really use them outside of the park. But I occasionally sharpen my pow skis.

You are doing it wrong.

If you have to sharpen your pow skis ... you are not skiing pow.

Most of the time I use them to charge ice or hit a mogul line. They might touch pow twice a year.

I keep my pow sticks tuned. I tune the tips and tails of my park skis, but never razor sharp. I usually ski the sides of the trails to find the sugar when it's icy.

I do this also, it works fairly well.

If u sharp your edges too much u will catch on a rai. Not matter what.

I won't sharpen the part of my skis that would make contact with rails. I'll sharpen other contact points though when they need it.

I had to de-tune my edges to hit this one urban rail because my edges kept digging into it every time I landed. Worked to my advantage in the end because I ended up getting it, but for park I don't really see the point of de-tuning, but I would never sharpen under foot.

Somewhat relevant, went to a shop to buy stuff to wax my skis and guy there sold me a kit that was like 20 wish more then the stuff alone, but came with stuff to sharpen my edges as well so I figured why not. Once I got home though I realized the guide only has 0 degree and 2 degree settings, I should just return it right?
