Best Place to ski in Chile

on this note anybody know of any mountains down there that would hire somebody who doesn't speak spanish that well? I speak enough to get by but it's been out of practice. Would love to do a season or two down there at some point.

I've been there but I haven't seen any snow if you catch my drift.

in the resorts near santiago there isnt great lift accessed powder skiing spots, but if you dont have problems with hiking a little bit, la parva is the best on pow days, but the park is shitty.

el colorado has the best park in south america and decent aprés-ski life, but it isnt great in pow days.

valle nevado has a pretty good park (for chilean standards) and its a little better than el colorado on pow days.
those 3 resorts are next to each other so if you are not buying a season pass, you could try all of them.

The park scene is starting to develop in Chile, but it still isn't much so you should try not to see that as a priority. As stated above, El Colorado has the best park set up which when I was there this past summer was two medium kickers and a number of basic rails. Valle Nevado and La Parva, the two resorts on either side of El Colorado also have decent parks, La Parva had a really creative rail garden that was a lot of fun to lap. However, the natural terrain at these three resorts is very flat and rolling, good for building jumps or finding natural hits but if you are looking to scope lines and ski steeper terrain I would look towards the south of Chile.

I skied at a little resort called Nevados de Chillan which was a totally different scene, far less touristy and gave off the vibe of a local backyard ski hill, except the mountain itself was huge and at the base of a volcano. The south of Chile sees far more snow than the three resorts near Santiago, and the terrain is way better but the park scene is little to none and it was much more out of the way than the closest resorts to the city. If I could do it all again I would go back to Nevados because the snow and terrain is better and you get to experience more of the real Chilean culture as opposed to the tourist trap of Valle Nevado

if you want more good pow days, chillan is definitely better because in the resorts near santiago the snow gets fucked up with the wind and there are no trees so it sucks on cloudy days.

the "tourist trap" its only on valle, la parva, el colorado and farellones are not like that,
and the terrain is as steep as in chillan and its really good with the right conditions , you just need to hike a little bit ( https://vimeo.com/112763254 for example that are some spots in la parva that are not "too flat")

chillan is still a really good option but not for skiing park
