Boot/Binding Problem: Interesting Situation

Alright so heres the deal. My grandpa is taking me and some of my cousins and my friend up to sun valley this coming weekend to ski. Since a lot of people were going he asked if id give him my skis and boots so he could take them up with him this week and make more space for when we go up all together this friday night. so thats cool with me, give him the skis I'm gonna use and give him my boots. well, i think I've been drunk this whole week cause i totally forgot that my new skis come tomorrow and my boots are in sun valley. id really like to shred my new skis this weekend up there, but how am i supposed to mount without my boots? so i asked my shop if they had any more boots that were the same size/model as mine but they don't. So then they said any boot with the same bsl as mine would work. But if they use 2 different boots(not even the same brand) wouldn't the center line of the boot match up differently than mine? these are symmetrical skis and i want them center mounted. Can anyone help me out? Will i be fine using a different boot with the same bsl to mount my skis? thanks in advance.\

also idk if it matters but ill be mounting the sth2 with a 27/27.5 Ft dropkick

Just tell the shop your BSL and they can mount your boots just fine. When you are reunited with your boots, you might need to do some final forward pressure adjustments, nothing that will take any longer than 5 minutes unless you're a bit paralympic.

Hmm, really interesting question, I feel like it shouldn't matter that much, like the bsl is a number, in millimeters, so any boot with the same BSL has the same length sole. This means that the middle of the boot should be half of the BSL from each end right? So in theory all boots midpoint should be the same for any one BSL? I don't know if this is true but it seams reasonable. If it's not like that I would take your boot and measure the distance from the tip of the toe to the center, then tell the shop that number and you can even measure it on the boot they sue and mark it with a sharpy or something, this way they will mount it to where the center of your boots would be.

Yeah so I guess my main queation is: does the full tilt dropkick 27/27.5 boots 310mm bsl have the same midpoint as any other 310mm bsl boot?

Short answer, if they have a 310 BSL boot it won't matter.

Long answer, the midsole mark between 2 different branded boots may vary slightly but it won't be enough for you to notice.
When you mount with a template you don't even get the boots involved until you're doing the forward pressure, you just set them up at the BSL and go from there.

Weird that they don't have a 27-shell Full Tilt classic-style shelled boot though - I assume they don't carry FT at all?

They stopped carrying full tilt this year for some reason so i got one of the last pairs. and wouldn't you need to boots involved to have the center line?

The 27/27.5 shell has a 310mm BSL (both sizes are the same, the difference between the two is the liner thickness). Just tell your shop the BSL, have them mount them to that, then make sure to have the bindings adjusted at a location in Sun Valley (unless you're comfortable doing it yourself) because they probably won't have the correct forward pressure setting (especially if they're older boots because the wear can be different).

brand new boots, haven't skied them yet, just buttered around in them in my house on other skis haha. So i will be fine mounting my new skis at true center and they will be at true center when i ski them? I'm just making sure that all 310mm bsl boots have the midline at the same location.

Yup. All midsole lines are...well, at the middle of the sole, doesn't matter what boot. The tech wouldn't even touch the boot until setting the forward pressure. All the measurement is done with the jig.

YeS. So long as they use a boot with the same bsl they will be good. Depending on the binding you may need the toe setting up to your exact boot and you should certainly get the forward pressure checked but they will be good. Did I beat onenerdy haha

Well with those bindings the have a load of adjustment on the heel track so even if they get it slightly off you will be fine. You will certainly need the toe piece setting up for your boots as it has wing and heigh adjustment but so long as they use A boot with the same ball you will be good.

Ill claim that win even if it's only because I'm in the right time zone Lol.
