Filming skiing with manual focus lens?

I'm currently debating whether to get the rokinon 14mm or the tokina 11-16mm lens for this season. The big difference for me is the fact that the tokina does have autofocus, so I was wondering if anyone on here knows how well the autofocus works on that lens. And also, for anyone that has a manual focus only lens, is it a complete bitch to keep a rider in focus while doing follows?

First of all, you should be using manual focus for 95% of any kind of video work. Second of all, we're talking about ultra wide lenses. Everything's gonna be in focus anyway.

its definitely hard to manual follow focus, but i'm pretty sure with the 14mm rokinon you can set and forget. i.e. put on infinity focus. basically everything is in focus but not super sharp. it looks fine.
not sure about the 11-16 but you might like being able to zoom in a bit

I have the tokina 11-16 and I guarantee you will love it, f/2.8, super sharp, and a bit of flexibility with the zoom
All times are Eastern (-5)
