Best unknown resort for pow skiing?

I'm going to go on a trip this year, and the obvious choice for what to do is skiing. I wanna ski some pow, but I want to go somewhere that does not have many people there. I hate lift lines. Got any ideas NS? Also, don't say canada, I would love to go skiing in BC, however I am not really allowed in...but thats a different story.

All depends where you live and how far you want to travel, but mount baker gets blasted and is relatively unknown but will be busy after a storm as any resort is.

yep, ive had fresh tracks as late as 9:04am at squaw. and everyone on the lift was super nice and supportive when i stopped on top of a cliff for 5 minutes to get pumped up, but then skied around it after getting scared

Can affirm, Schweitzer is terrible, always foggy and rainy, packed with gapers as well, it's also super flat and boring. I'll be heading out to to better mountains soon, I can't wait to experience the solitude of a Squaw pow day!

Op according to your profile you live in Homer, Alaska. You have more access to powder than 50 % than the riders of this site. Go work on one of the many fishing boats in Homer in the summer and then buy a sled and rip up AK.
I'd fucking kill to have a solid job in AK.

I would look at the smaller areas in MT/ID/WA, see how the season goes and who is getting snow. If things keep up the way they are the best advice might be to find the gnarliest hill you can back east.

heyyy guess what. homer is right next to the ocean, guess whta comes with oceans? WARMER WEATHER! hahah i have NO snow in my backyard. none. zip. I would rather ski the east coast right now. and yes, i have a sled and fishing job haha. but skiing in ak is super unaccessible for the most part. so stop thinking i have huge pow lines when i walk out of my door

East coast sucks compared to Alaska. Serousily. I can't imagine the denali Hwy. , hatcher pass, or turnagin pass being terrible seeing how they were getting snow in October..

On a side note, Op where should I go hold a "will work sign" for 2015 salmon season to get fishing job..
Really, I'm tired of sucking old people summer tourist dick in denali.

For PNW I dunno if anyone has skiied Willamette Pass but that is a great empty mountain in hte middle of NOWHERE. It is solid if you want to avoid crowds I'd ski that place on a powder day I think I was one of about 12 peeps on the mountain the day I skied there some Saturday afternoon in late Jan. You can probably ski Bachelor the day it dumps if its midweek and still get freshes when that place opens on the weekend.


Bachelor gets skiied out pretty quick though. It was sick that I hit it on a powder day and got first chair to the summit tho I like that place.


But to be honest Im pretty stoked for 4-5 powder days at Sunday River the rest of this week should be pretty awesome for December and crowds will be bearable. Got a room close in case we get 3 feet gonna be fucking awesome. Already had one good pow day there.

1 lift, $30 day pass, Montana continues to deliver for low key ski areas. I will have to check out those glades this spring.
