NSers that aren't that great at skiing

I feel as though I can't be the only one here who isn't too amazing at skiing. The best trick I've done is a 540 mute or maybe a 270 onto a flat down triple barrel. Is anyone else here because they just love watching edits, reading comical threads and getting minor trick tips? Anyways whether you're the best skier on the mountain or a total kook like me I wanted to thank you for helping me find a website I love wasting time on.

I'm honestly so terrible at park skiing and here in Iowa that's all there is to do. I grew up skiing in CO about two or three times a year for about a week every time. Thus I looooovvvveeeee back country and bombin the huge groomers in the mountains. I also take photos for skiing (@will_mckay_photo on instagram)and just love the lifestyle behind it!

I took my second ski lesson this last weekend. So Im fuckin terrible. Regardless of all the falling down the green run I had a blast. Hopefully by the end of the season I can make it down a blue with a good amount of confidence, making controlled turns and stopping no problem. Those are my goals.

This is what i filmed last year. It's honestly pretty bad but i had so much fun last year finally getting comfortable on boxes/rails so i could care less if i'm not the best skier in the park. I ski to have fun and progress at my own speed

I live in Saskatchewan and ski almost solely park so thats my strong suit. I can pretty much assume I suck at pow skiing considering rarely is there any powder and a trip to the mountains is the only time I see deep chowda.

I dunno tho, cause pow is fun as hell haha. All skiing is.

Well, unlike mostly everybody else in this thread, it's not park that I suck at, it's the actual skiing part. I probably fall more on slightly icy groomers than I do it the park. I really need to get good at getting down the mountain instead of progressing in park, but park is just too fun. Regardless, skiing is my favorite thing to do ever and if I take gnarly spills on groomers, so be it.

El_Barto.I cant jump for shit and i never ski park. That said i bet i can set a better edge than 99% all skiers and that I go faster than almost everyone. Bombing groomers is by far my favorite thing followed by pillow hopping in the trees. Big floaty knolls give me a chub too

i guess im a typical racer who doesnt race anymore.

Hell I have never been any good, its honestly just about making me happy. And a fat blunt grab 180 over some hip I found is all I am ever gonna to im going to be perfectly happy about it.

I've spun more out of a rail than I ever have off a jump. I've slid an urban rail that's at least two times longer than the distance I've ever jumped in the air.

I'm so happy your season ending goals were to make controlled turns and stopping properly... Because you'd be surprised the amount of new twintippers that once they move off green circles they try sliding rails...

In the park I can 5 with grabs, switch up, 2 on, and 2 off. Imo this is all you need for maximum fun in the park because you can trick on any feature you encounter. The only goal I have with skiing is having fun and with this trick set I don't find any real limitations. For me the most fun is just ripping through the trees anyways.

Gotta be able to do everything to a certain degree.

I actually don't do tricks and just straight air jumps and only grind easy rails and boxes so I suck in the park but I like to take a couple laps and always sneak in a few midsized kickers each day and I usually grind the easiest rail in the park a couple times. Just like you should be able to ski switch or ski on one ski for a little. Dunno why people on this website think its OK to hate on park and not be able to ski it they don't build those features because they aren't fun do they?


If you can't do something on snow take the time and learn if you want to be considered a good skiier.


And lets be honest you are a gaper if you can't ski moguls well. Sorry sad but true. GTFO too if you want to claim that you love trees and can slay them but you don't like moguls I've heard that kind of bs on here a lot for whatever reason if you can't mogul ski competently you will be side stepping or pizza-ing any steep and tight tree lines that don't have pristine snow. Fact.

And progress you will! Once you start to feel comfortable on rails, tricks come way easier. But if youre having fun in the park, theres nothing to worry about.

Suck at hitting jumps or rails, but I know I am/was one of the fastest racers on NS and that I love variable conditions. Chopped up pow? Sweet. Ice? Incredibly fun. Wet PNW snow? Awesome.

Not everyone on NS is good in the park, skiing big mountains, slaying rails, bashing gates, or even sliding on snow. But what unites us all is our love for the sport.

I'm 14 I started park skiing VERY late(last year) whereas most of my skiing peers started parkskiing when they were like 6. They can all flat 3, cork 7, 2 pretz 2, kfed and all this other crazy shit. I can do a 3 with a grab, sketchy 5s, slide a box, and cant ski rails to save my life. I still have fun doing straight airs and shifties off of rollers and other natural features. Its all about how you look at yourself instead comparing yourself to others

I avoid rails at all costs... but I'm progressing on jumps like crazy. Main goal is too hit the 70' at Granite Peak before the year ends. I carve better than most people that I have seen in person, and I love chutes and cliffs. It is all about having fun.
