Revision Skis Review Thread

So yesterday was my first day on the new whips. I got 176 Talismans. I'm 5'10" 160, ski in Michigan so road on all ice and man made snow yesterday. First impressions is they were super buttery and playful, at least in comparison to the Epic Planks I started the season on. Handled really well on rails, only jump my resort had was a 25 foot step down, but seemed to do pretty well. Really fun skis just to ride around on and jib side hits.
Took a pretty hard slam, and thankfully they didn't fall apart so I would consider that a win as well.

So anyone else who has ridden them so far, what do you think?

hey man, im about the same size as you and ordered the 176 Tailsmans as well. They should be arriving tomorrow, suppper stoked to try them out!... anyways just wondering what spot did you mount your bindings at and how is the swing weight on the ski?

i mounted mine true center but i have not ridden them yet so i dont know how they feel if that helps you at all

yeah thanks man, that's kinda where im thinking of mounting them, either true center or 1cm back.. but I doubt 1cm will make a huge difference, so might just stick with true center. never shredded on a ski like these so im just trying to see where people are mounting the talismans and how they feel on the slopes

So I went to ride them today and noticed the nose of one of them got smashed pretty good, to the point where it bent part of the base. It's very weird, I'll post pics when I get the chance. Also all of the bottoms of the front rivets fell out after one day. So that kind of pisses me off.

i saw on the website they're like 4.2kg per set, do you really notice the weight?

shit eh... I didn't even know they had rivets on the skis. really hope revision's durability isn't a huge issue...

Yeah they are 8.4Lbs per ski at 182cm... Which isn’t that bad for a larger park ski, it’s actually pretty good. 8.4Lbs is about 3.81kg, Line blends, which are a similar size park ski, weigh 4.242kg at 185cm. so the Talisman's weight is about the same as the blends…Bigger park skis are going to weigh more and I’m pretty sure Sand Boville wasn’t noticing the weight of his Talismans when he won rails2riches last Saturday.

8.4 Lb/ski? If you mean pair that's good. If you mean per ski that's almost double what Line Blends weigh.

When I first got them I thought they were really heavy, but other kids at my resort seemed to think they were pretty standard. When riding them I didn't notice much of a difference between their weight and that of my Epic Planks.

yeah sorry my bad, it per pair ahah...the pair I ordered just came in bout an hour ago and they feel light with a pretty good swing weight,also edges are decently thick too.

honestly, for me they feel fine for a wider park ski and if they were lighter I would be worried about the strength of the ski. I rather have a ski with a thick base and thick edges that's a bit heavier because of it being burly, then a light ski that is not as durable.

im also digging the white bases, any one else pleasantly surprised to have white base graphics instead of black?

Hey guys - we added the rivets for extra durability, but have had a few pop on us. As a result, we have purchased upgraded rivets to easily replace the stock rivets on the Talismans (which can be easily attached via screw driver). If anyone needs replacement rivets, just send us a message here: https://revisionskis.com/company/contact/ and we will happily mail you out the upgraded replacements. Really appreciate everyones support and hope you have fun on the skis!

got to use my pair of talismans today... snow was not the best but pretty happy with the skis for the $179 they cost me. got them center mounted and detuned so carving was not the best, but I could still rip on them. they skied switch nice and the skis were real poppy and playful overall. Going from 88 underfoots on my last pair of skis to 96 underfoot on the revisions took a bit of getting uses to, both in the park and all mountain. It was fun skiing park with the talisman, they felt more buttery and pressy. locking my edge onto to rails for spins out was a more difficult with the wider skis, and just greasing rails on wider park skis in general didn’t feel 100%.... but I got used to it. Lip slides did seem easlier tho. Swing weight was decent for a larger park ski, tho I didn’t get to do a lot of tricks off the jump the hill had… (snow was slow). Durability wise the skis were fine, strong edges base and top sheet. The only problem is that the bottom of three out of six rivets popped out! Kinda disappointed but I know im not the only one who had this happen to them and hey shit happens when ur starting up a ski company. Customer serves is pretty reliable, Should be able to easily get some replacements that will hold up a bit better. Over all pretty pleased with the construction and performance of the ski, and I would recommend a pair to anyone interested. Good job Revision!

is it just me or is the "center" line marked on the skis true center? so recommended is true center...??

Yea I believe it's supposed to be but my lines were off (one was off by about half a centimeter and one was of by a little over a centimeter) so it's always a good idea to measure

wow i didn't even think of either of those points haha. ill get a tape measure out and see what's up and make a line for the ski tech if need be

Yeah I always measure because often they don't get lined up perfectly in the press resulting in the recommended lines to not be perfectly accurate

Yeah he definitely should, me and my friend who also has the skis lost our front rivets after 1 day, and it definitely wouldn't hurt just to have them.
