Replying to Broken collar bone 3 days before hitting the slopes

So I broke my collarbone in an embarrassingly non-ski related accident 3 days before I was due to leave for my university ski trip. I had surgery 2 days ago and had a plate and screws put in. If my collar bone isn't paifull enough I had to see all my mates leave for the slopes whilst I stayed behind. I'm due to be skiing again over the new year. Just wondering what people's experience of broken collar bones were and whether skiing over New Years is a realistic recovery time?
