Skiing in Europe

bring yellow or flat-light lenses. Since the skiing is so high up, there are no trees (except the ones you bring) so there's no contrast and often very flat light. It's tough to lug your ski bag on the trains if you have multiple pairs of skis. Amsterdam's not that far away by train.

I'm probably just going to bring my boots and rent/demo skiis, because I'm travelling around after as well. Thanks for the goggle tip.

ok i've just been in cham for a while. first off, HIRE skiis cos they dont have the same bullshit as they do in N. America: ie. they will hire you anything as long as there is snow. In chamonix, go to a place called 'Snell Sports' (!) on the main shop street and go to the basement- hire T-M's, pocket rockets, 1080's, scratch, scratch bc's, seth pistols etc....all this seasons. for skiing, if there is good snow get the aguille du midi cable and ski the glacier. if not perfect, go to 'Les Grans Montets' by free bus, then go up on the high speed chair and then take the 'hearse chair' (!) down to your left, go up that shit and ski right underneath it- about 1/2 hrs skiing of pure sick powder and cliffs. off the hook. also, ski 'les houches' for the half pipe and sick scenery, and ski 'brevent' for some amazinf b/c. les houches is perfect to build a b/c booter. theres so many places to spot from a chair.
