Most rails feel sticky

I don't know why but it seems everyone is flying over rails so easily and when I hit it they feel very sticky. This happen to anyone else? Anyways to help make sliding more effortless/controlled?

your edges may be sharp, especially if you just got new skis or just got your skis sharpened.

Dull your edges with a file, so they are rounded. Also make sure your skis are waxed. maybe lean back a wee bit so that you don`t catch. my brother was ahving the same issue and we dulled his skis and he does fine now

Check your edges. You definitely want them detuned at the very least. Sticky rails are usually sharp edges or burred to shit/rusty rails.

Might just be warm, or the rails might be really icy. Mention it to the park crew or patrol, and they might send someone to lube it or assess the situation.

it helps if you piss on the rail then grind it. it makes it slide alot smoother

If most rails are sticky he should check his skis first. When things are ground down and clean, down have globs of paint, and are sliding fine it's annoying when you get a bunch of "It's so sticky" suggestions. Boxes are more understandable but even then it happens with boxes and unless it's really bad, extra topsheet lying around, budget to buy more any time, or there's damage to them they probably won't be getting replaced, at least not mid season.

In the late spring summer when the suns blasting and the rails are hot just chuck a little snow on something before you hit it and that should do the trick.

I've definitely seen some rails that looked sketchier than grinding rust or sandpaper but then have seen people complain about rails that are polished as shiny and smooth as possible.

I guess it doesn't matter. Just don't be a dick if you make a suggestion to the crew. Also do that rather than filling out a complaint saying "RAILS WERE GARBAGE AND STICKY AND I HATE YOU ALL".

Several factors can affect the way a rail slides: temperature, humidity, type of metal used. Usually the only thing you can personally do to deal with the stickiness is keep your bases waxed, make sure your edges are dulled in the right spots and remove edge burs.

There was a kid at my hill last night spraying isopropyl alcohol out of a spray bottle onto a rail. I'm not fucking kidding. Anyone who was out at Hyland Thursday night knows exactly what I'm talking about. Surprisingly it worked unbelievably well. Kid is a hero.

I know you ski at SR and most of the tubes they had set up for the past couple weekends have been getting pretty sticky, mostly the second rail and the elbow. Just wait for the new rails or hit them faster.

Yeah I noticed last weekend that they were super sticky. My whole crew I was skiing with noticed it as well. It'll get better once T72 opens I assume.

Yeah, I skied with you guys for a couple runs near the end of the day on Saturday I think. Im friends with Cam, Jamie, Peter, Will, Kyle and tha doods.
