how many americans died from ebola recently? (1, and one visitor from another country) how many americans were/are scared of ebola? (about 40%, according to polls)

how many unarmed black men are killed by white cops in america? how many unarmed black CHILDREN are killed by white cops in america?
unfortunately, your government actually chooses not to keep track of these numbers, so i can't tell you. all i can say is that it happens almost every single day.

so this is what an epidemic looks like. this what black americans are afraid of. this is the nightmare every black american is now living in. how it isn't a nightmare for the rest of you, too, is beyond me. i live in canada and this shit keeps me up all night. i can only imagine how my jamaican cousins that moved to america to study feel, all i know is that they think it's time to leave, and i agree. do you?

the "go back to where you came from" mentality strikes an ironic chord with me (the irony of white americans all being immigrants chord was struck a while back), in that if all of the persecuted and marginalized groups in america did actually go elsewhere, what would america be? i imagine a nation in which crusty old racists clean their own toilets, for a change.

We have exactly the same thing in the UK but with Pakistani, Indian and Eastern European people. Uneducated bigots blame all the problems that our (admittedly very screwed-up) country has on immigrants. No tabs are kept on the racism that is thrown around and shouted on British streets, and in British schools and workplaces towards immigrants who actually bring in money to this economy, and do the jobs we consider ourselves too good for.

This strikes on a personal note as I've been targeted in racist slander purely because of the fact that I have a lot of Polish blood in me.

Racism has no place in any society.

my gf is american (great tits), i'll be heading down to visit her for christmas and new years this year. gonna take advantage of that inflated economy and try not go outside too much while i'm there. her dad is a 6 foot 4 racist sociopath though so i might have to go outside a lil, dodge some bullets.

It's even more ironic than that....their ancestors were brought here against their will and treated like property for hundreds of years. Now there's people who want them to "go back where they came from"...they didn't want to leave in the first place.

I look at it like this. I am not racist. I don't know anyone who is racist. At other times in my life, I did know people who were racist. Everyone I know values the actions and deeds of a person way more than their skin color. The U.S. population has increased dramatically, and I am certain that the number of incidents of cops killing black people has decreased significantly if you look at it as a percentage of the total population. There was a time when cops in some states assumed they could get away with killing black people. There is no way that cops today think they can get away with shooting someone just because of their skin color. Put it this way, there are millions of lawyers who live for this shit and jump on any possible wrongful death suit. Even if a cop manages to not get convicted, they are likely to end up bankrupt from legal fees. There is no question that all of this goes through a cops mind every time he/she has to draw their weapon.

What exactly are you guys complaining about? The fact that you barely posted this now, after the jury decision of on Darren Wilson, means you're just ranting for the sake of ranting. You haven't looked at the facts and analyzed them. People just blindly spout shit that isn't true. Go examine the facts. I will leave the chokehold cop out of this as I haven't looked at it thoroughly enough.

People like you never look at the underlying facts, you just want to sit on your high horse and join the tide. It's like here in California there was a story where Mexicans were protesting that statistically their cars are impounded a lot more than white peoples' when they are pulled over. Yet these protestors ignored the statistic that stated how most of them drive without a license, and so your car will be impounded. Same goes for this police issue. You're looking at it superficially.

It's unfortunate that cops ever have to kill anyone... Of any race. However when you have so many interactions due to such an infestation of crime within a race I guess the number will appear inflated. There's no doubt that blacks are in some cases immediately discriminated on my the police (and regular people) but they're also statistically committing more major crimes. It's an interesting paradox. The bigger question should be "how do we stop having to have interactions with the police and better ourselves as a community/race?" rather than "why do the police hate us" but that's just me and I'm white.

unfortunately that isn't just you, that's pretty much every white person in america. you all forget that MLK was the most civilized, respectful, peaceful, etc. man and he still got shot in the face. you're forgetting that a 12 year old boy was killed in less than 2 seconds for carrying a toy gun in a state where its perfectly legal to carry real guns in public. this is not a question of how you're raised, because a black cop was mistaken for a suspect last week and murdered by a white cop, and tamir rice was 12 years old, he wasn't done being raised yet. black people are looked at as dirt no matter what they do. eric garner had his hands up and said "i can't breathe" 11 times as they choked him to death. and you forget that even when you accidentally kill someone in a car accident you still get charged with manslaughter, while no white cop has been charged in the death of any unarmed black man they killed in at least Missouri, ever, despite it happening literally countless times.

the thing is that if you don't know the cops are lying, you're fucking stupid. and i know that you guys aren't fucking stupid, so we both know that the cops are lying. you are lying with them. that makes me sick.

the thing is that these horrific hate crimes against black children are being regarded as not even worth looking into by you guys. and that is disgusting.

Do I post and get my head bit off and my karma destroyed by OP and other NSers? Sure lets delve into the world of politics on a ski website.

First, you don't live in the US, your right to talk about our country which ever way you like is all yours, I don't care, but you don't live and deal with our politics on a personal level daily. I just wanted to make this clear unless you do live in the US and this is just a hardcore troll situation. Also, lets consider for a moment that we left race out of this, black, white, asian, I don't care, when a man goes for your gun on your side, as a cop would you not react. Cops learn at police academy to keep a rule, its called the 20 foot rule, or keeping distance from possible attackers, if invaded they will react.

Killing a small child for having a toy gun on a playground with two shots to the chest is injustice at its finest, but I don't believe that is a rascism issue though, its called cops over reacting and having a power trip, same reason you got detention from your teachers in school, "they can do it because they can." These issues between cops and the people scares me too, who knows, I could get shot tomorrow by some cop for looking the wrong way.

The fight Ferguson brings to the police and government isn't a peaceful protest as it started out as, but more of a riot with random sympathizers who may not know the full story who just want something to be angry about. Many walk outs have taken place at local schools in my area as a protest to sympathize with the protesters in Ferguson, many of the kids walking out were on Twitter early that day and felt the need to agree, wanted a reason to skip out on class, and some genuinely believed and had studied the Ferguson situation. Recently there was a man who's car was being destroyed on the street by "protesters," in the Ferguson area, when he respectfully asked them to stop, he was beaten to death with hammers in front of his own wife by the protesters. If you ask me, the protesters are possibly taking a step backwards and are making the situation worse for themselves by going to far. As a US citizen, we are entitled to our rights, and one of the rights is the right to peaceful protest, which is not what the Ferguson situation has turned into.

When you state that "we have a mentality of go back to where you came from," I can't possibly agree with that, the US is the melting pot of the world, it has been for many years, and it will always be, much like Canada. You want to see a go back to where you came from country look at Germany during the 1930's, do you think we are headed that way? Please do inform me neighbor.

I hope that I can see your side of this as a Canadian living just north of me. I find it interesting what you have to say and I would like to hear more so I can show you what I think, and hey, maybe you will find that we agree on more than just skiing.

Such a good question, for me, I believe the only way to really stop interactions is hitting it at its core, reaching out and helping the poorer classes. Getting involved with local organizations for disturbed youth in "ghetto" locations of your city is a good place to start. As a middle class white kid I can have the option of helping out or standing by. To engage and be able to involve, be a steady role model, and influence kids who are not in a stable home environments, surrounded by violence and the idea that hope is far and not within their grasps on a weekly basis is powerful. If you can some how break the cycle, give kids in these situations hope, reasons to not join that gang and start dealing that drug so they end up like the next dead kid on the headlines of the paper reading "gang violence results in yet another death by cops" and enraging yet another loving community of people would be, in my opinion the way to solve this question. To fix the interactions that you are talking about.

Instead of arguing with OP, why not come up with good questions like these, and maybe a solution? Tell me, am I thinking to perfect world? Maybe if this actually happened and privileged people engaged we could fix this problem step by step.

What the USA needs is to find a way to get these people educated (which their public school system fails to do), and into jobs where they can live a comfortable happy life.

white on white crime and white on black crime are both more prevalent than black on black or black on white crime in america. i believe the stats from 2011 were posted in one of these threads a couple days ago by someone. the majority of serial killers, school shootings, etc. are commited by white people.

and i agree, it`s hard enough living in the hood without getting shot while you`re sleeping or choked to death in the street by the people who are supposed to protect you.

the reason you see it as classism is because as a white person, you do experience classism. everyone experiences classism, no doubt, but the structural racism in american society will always outweigh the classism for any coloured person. right now, unfortunately, the real problem for the black people is racism, and cops. the NYPD was trained to target coloured males and frisk them randomly just a few years ago. an unarmed black person is shot by a white police officer every 28 hours. it`s not as though they`re killing all of the homeless white people, although there have been plenty of cases of that too (again, nobody`s keeping track). the problem is that these men and women do have jobs and educations, and they are still being killed while unarmed in broad daylight and surrendering. mike brown was about to go to college. eric garner was supporting a family. they were murdered in the street by police officers, the coroner ruled it a homicide, we got it on video, he said he couldn`t breathe 11 times, and they killed him, and nobody was punished, except for eric garners wife and children and the guy who filmed it. "i'm not racist, but if the black just get jobs and go to school then maybe the cops will stop shooting them in the head." this is the most racist site i go on.

Those crimes a you specifically mentioned are white crimes... But I don't know that the aforementioned is true. If you find the stats can you post them?

Natives in Canada have every opportunity that any other person has with the added benefits of not paying certain taxes and a few other perks.

Them living in complete poverty is entirely and 100% their bloody faults. Take a town like Attiwapiskat, about the shittiest place outside Haiti in the Americas. The federal government pumps millions and millions of dollars into these small towns (something like 50 million over a decade for a town with only a few hundred people) and they mismanage the money so so so so poorly that they end up being worse off then they were a decade previously. Then the government says "ok well you fucked up let's send in auditors to see where the money went" and they refuse to let anyone look at their books for where they spent taxpayer money.

Fuck them. Seriously. And then they make is seem like it's societies fault. If you don't bloody like it there move away, get a job, and live like any other Canadian. No one is stopping you.


I think the problem is that they're put on a pedestal and made to seem inferior to everyone else by way of giving them extra help no one else gets. Take away all Aboriginal funding, take away their tax breaks, their free housing, don't give them anything else. Let them integrate into society like the other 30 million of us who aren't miserable and don't prop them up, cause it's doing more harm than good.

I think the problem is that they're put on a pedestal and made to seem inferior to everyone else by way of giving them extra help no one else gets. Take away all Aboriginal funding, take away their tax breaks, their free housing, don't give them anything else. Let them integrate into society like the other 30 million of us who aren't miserable and don't prop them up, cause it's doing more harm than good.

Natives in Canada have every opportunity that any other person has with the added benefits of not paying certain taxes and a few other perks.

Them living in complete poverty is entirely and 100% their bloody faults. Take a town like Attiwapiskat, about the shittiest place outside Haiti in the Americas. The federal government pumps millions and millions of dollars into these small towns (something like 50 million over a decade for a town with only a few hundred people) and they mismanage the money so so so so poorly that they end up being worse off then they were a decade previously. Then the government says "ok well you fucked up let's send in auditors to see where the money went" and they refuse to let anyone look at their books for where they spent taxpayer money.

k-robi know we don't have legal weed yet (a national embarrassment) but BC is heaven on earth (for a price).


We don't really put people in jail for pot (especially recreational users) though so I don't really see the need for legalization until we come up with a legitimate way of doing road side tests for weed. We could just change the classification of hemp and treat them completely differently and just leave pot as is. BC's #1 industry is pot and has been for years.

America is fucked and needs to deal with their shit - releasing all those poor souls who are in jail for complete bullshit reasons would be a great start. Catch is - if they legalize it down there our pot industry up here suffers big time. Worth it though.

youre oversimplifying an incredibly complex issue. did you know that if an First Nations person chooses to leave their reserve, they have to abandon the aboriginal rights theyre given? so if they choose to leave their miserable slum of a community, they are basically thrust into the world with aboslutely nothing. why do they have nothing? they aren't allowed to own property on a reserve. technically the reserve is owned by the local band, not individual people. when you don't own your property, theres no incentive to put any money into it. so people sit around and huff gas instead.

thats why aboriginal people are trapped. they cant afford or get an education because of how isolated they are from society by living on reserves. if they leave the reserve they are fucked too. it takes a lot more than willpower for an aboriginal family to get off the reserve and integrate into society, and usually involves a few generations of marriage with non-aboriginal, otherwise established families.

this fucked up stuff about leaving the reserve and who techincally owns the land in the reserve was established in Treaty 9, signed about 110 years ago by illiterate chiefs who were given huge gifts of tobacco and food by the British ambassadors who came to them. pretty shifty move, and has had incredibly long reaching consequences.

In Australia we have random road side drug testing the same as we have random breath testing for alcohol. It's a tongue scrape.

Honestly, canada doesnt have these problems because they dont have the number of people and the diversity of cultures and regions like the US does. And lest we forget, the candians treat the natives worse than the US treats anyone.


Canada treated natives worse, but has since put in place legislature that obligates the government to spend money subsidizing everything possible for them, from tax breaks, to post secondary education. I would say that now, they, on paper, are treated quite well by Canadians.

Canada also has plenty of diversity as most of our population growth is from immigration. Please see the only cities you've heard of such as Toronto (4th largest city in North America), Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, even Ottawa. I'm sure the rates of such instances are still much lower here. Small towns that offer little in the way of industry and job placement for immigrants may be more white washed, but that is hardly the case in most urban centres, and we still don't have racist cops shooting people in those places.
