so i went and got my new atomic infamous' mounted on some look pivots and when i got them back i was being extremely meticulous about making sure they were mounted where i wanted them to be. After noticing that the toe pieces didnt 100% mirror each other i take a look and measure it out and THEY ARE 5MM OFF! after looking at the heel piece they were also 5mm off aswell. will i be able to notice the difference that my ski is off by half a cenitmeter?
Honestly, no. This problem is very slight and you will take longer getting used to the different skis. However, this is a pretty shitty mistake to make and u sud get them redone as your equipment is more prone to damage and you are more prone to injury.
bit of a shitty situation, re-drilling only 5mm from original holes isnt the best idea, I moved mine about a cm and tore a binding out and it had split between the old plugged hole and new position
Definitely bring that back to the shop as a lot of the time this may put the shop at legal fault if anything were to happen while you were skiing. If they're legit they should fix it up for you no prob and may even give you some type of reimbursement. Just don't be a dick to the techs, the start of the season is always mad crazy due to the insane amount of mounts and tune ups.
When you say one is 5mm off do you mean the mount is 5mm infront/behind of the other? If thi is the case it's probably just the jig wa slightly off center when mounted. It's not ideal but certainly will not be an issue. You won't feel any difference I the park. If you were a racer and actually used the sidecut and edges it would be a differnt story but on a park ski they will be fine.
