Pain in Arch From Ski Boots

For starters, you say you have a wide foot? Who put you in / why are you in a narrow, low volume boot?

Do you have footbeds?

yea I have foot beds from Sure foot... Since it has the custom shell, it has narrow last but it can expand.

Got some 2010 Falcon CS boots, because apparently I have wide ass feet.

For the past year or so, they have been putting a ton of pressure on the inside of my right arch, regardless of how tight/loose they are buckled.

Any of y'all have similar problems? Is it an issue with my arch collapsing?

I had this issue when I road on atomic boots. There are many factors could be involved, poor boot construction, boots have broken down, or not good insoles. For me it was a combo of all things, I have pretty wide feet and I obviously steered clear of ft's, dalbellos, and atomics when I was buying new ones, I ended up buying last years Solomon's, off the top of my head I can't remember what make they are, I am in class right now and don't have um at hand. Salomons are great and I have very high arches and the molds go great with my fit. I wouldn't suggest getting ft's, I am also a classic construction 4 buckle kind of guy and believe that is the best to go with. Have fun shopping for boots, I hope this helps man.

Oh and the reason I don't suggest ft's is because they are constructed in design for a narrow foot, that would make you foot issue even worse, but having a good foot bed or insole is gonna be the best for you.

Your medial arch pain could be attributed to a few things:
1. Surefoot footbeds are not that great, in fact I have seen them cause more problems than solve (despite their creation process).
2. The moldability of your boot is limited to the partial Kaprolene inserts, meaning the rest of the shell may not be the right shape for your foot.
3. The Kaprolene in those boots has been known to shrink back a bit and this loss of width/volume could be attributing to the pain you are experiencing.

I would personally look into new footbeds before you get a new boot- a proper footbed that repositions your foot into the right spot might be all you need. Plus it will be good step regardless

Next, have your shell checked to make sure the Kaprolene hasn't shrunk back and that it is still a good shape for your foot.

If that doesn't work, look into newer models of boots like the Hawx 2.0 130. It features a wider, higher volume starting point (at least compared to your current boot), has a true 130 flex, and the shell/cuff/liner are 100% moldable to your foot (rather than partial, like you have now). That will give you the power you are looking for and the right fit as well.

The Full Tilt Booter style boots have a wider footbed than the original or soul shells.

Just quoting this in the hope you listen to this. I would agree about the hawx too, those are some nice boots. I have been fitting them for a few weeks now and they are such a good boot to fit. The full custom shell is great. The 130 will give you a great high performance custom fit and make sure you replace those footbeds.

wow opinions on boot fitting vary so widely. I would say that the atomic boots are the worst, the flex zone is just shitty soft plastic that becomes maluable at 150 degrees or so. Just for reference to make any sort of adjustment on a normal polyester normal plug boot you need to get that material up to 220-240. that dead and unresponsive feel you get from those boots is just too much...same with pebax boots but that's another story, but again opinions.

and about those foot beds, take them into any of surefoots 30 locations globally and I can guarantee that a tech can remedy the problem free of charge.

I would suggest you become aware with the product that is currently on the market. The new Hawx 2.0 is a complete redesign that keeps the #1 selling fit in the USA but uses a new construction style that allows for a super stable shell construction, a fully customizable shell/cuff/liner, adjustable forward lean (13°, 15°, 17°), adjustable flex, and stock flex ranges from 90 - 130. It really has become the boot-fitter's boot. You can toss it in the oven or work on it using traditional means- whichever way suits you best.
