All-Mountain Twin-tip skis

Hello Ladies,

I know this should be in gear talk, but i thought i put it in here, as I am after some girls' opinions and I could find that many reviews on women's twin-tips as there are for guys.

I am mainly skiing Europe and Australia. I am currently skiing blue pistes quite confidently, but not that confident on black runs yet and still trying to perfectionise my parallel turns. I want to take quite a few lessons this winter in Europe to improve. I am looking for an All Mountain Ski, so I can ski well on piste but also be able to make myself familiar with off piste/powder skiing. I would say my main priority is to learn to ski well on piste. I really would like to get a pair of twin tips, as I would love to learn how to ski switch. My partner has always skied twin-tips and absolutely loves it, we got a bit worried though that I might find to ski a twin-tip ski a lot more difficult. The ski I liked the most so far is the Line Soulmate 90 and I am trying to decide between a 158cm or 165 cm ski. I am 167 cm tall and weigh 57 kg.

Do you have any recommendations/experiences?

When I first got twin tips I didn't think it was very difficult to adjust to them. They don't feel all that different than directional skis. The concept is still the same and nothing changes too drastically.

I live on the East Coast of the US. We don't see too much powder so I'm not too sure of an All Mountain/Pow ski.

Hey! Congrats on wanting to take the step into Big Mountian! Personally, I have the 4FRNT Madonnas and cannot be more in love with them. They don't chatter on groomers, and hold their ground of piste. I've found them to be responsive, a bit aggressive, but also forgiving underfoot. The most important thing about them however, is their shape. They are twin tips, but the tail isn't overly tiped, just enough for me to skis switch then turn around.

I also have 4frnt Madonnas, and can agree with everything said here. My Madonnas were my first all mountain skis, and the first skis I ever rode out west on real mountains (I'm from the midwest), so when I got them I wasn't the most experienced with mountain terrain. I don't have anything to compare them to, but regardless, they made learning how to ride all mountain terrain very fun.

^I had madonnas but just kinda out grew them and went for a more stable mens ski. But definitely based on your skiing either the 165 Madonnas, or the Soulmates sound awesome for you!!

I have a pair of k2 MissConducts that have worked really well for me as a park/ all mountain twin tip ski. It's not too wide under the foot, which can be difficult if you're still getting accustom to riding above blues or in powder conditions and the flex is really nice.

When I bought them I did a fair amount of research on websites with gear reviews that were geared towards women. Backcountry.com has a list that gives really good information.


As for length of skis, it depends on what you're used to and what you're more comfortable with/ what you weigh. Shorter skis will give you a lot more turning control and longer will go a little faster and are a little better in powder. Either of those lengths seem fine but I would recommend going into a shop and checking some stuff out, even if you end up buying online. It gives you a better idea of what the ski will really be like!

going to a shop to just look around can be extremely helpful. It gives you a visual reference to height, and let's you check out so many other skis.

But really, they're the greatest ski ever created, pretty much anyone who has ridden them would agree.

i transitioned from a snowboard to k2 missdemeanor skis as an allmouuntain/park ski , and if you're relatively confident you should be fine. i did the bunny hill thinking it would be hard, but after 5 seconds we realized i was fine and went to do some real laps. i live on the east coast too, so i don't make use of powder skis much. my bf has a few pairs and likes to play with them, but he always said that you need more control for wider skis, so i'd stick with something that isn't too too wide, naturally.
