twoshanesI'm about to finish my first semester at the University of Utah, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to move out here from PA. Some reasons why:
- inexpensive, and it's easy to gain residency provided you're cool with only leaving the state for 29 days your first year here
- if you do well in high school, you can probably get a decent amount of money from the University to make it even cheaper
- our business school is great and getting better (not sure about other schools/programs here)
- 30 minutes from most ski areas
- got my Brighton pass for $450 and I usually drive, but the bus is free with your pass
- people are nice, parties aren't too hard to find, and the herb is cheap
- if you plan on moving off campus like I do, I hear that living expenses here are pretty low
mlzmlz99Sounds rad, what are the pollution inversions like in Salt Lake City? That is the biggest thing stopping me from applying

TheUngroomedCouple comments on this...
They don't check if you've left the 29 days.. I was gone about 60 and still got residency... just take a bullshit class during the summer
If you want to do anything Med related, Utah is a fantastic school
The ski bus is the only public transportation that IS NOT free for U students... I think its $4 a day.. still cheap.
The inversion sucks... its disgusting, but it only gets bad when we don't have a storm for a couple weeks... when storms roll in every 4 or 5 days it never gets too bad

twoshanesI heard the bus to Brighton is free with your pass, but it doesn't start until Dec 7. I'm stoked to hear they don't care about days out of state though.
