Need a microphone for my t2i and I do not know what to look for.
Purpose will be indoor and outdoor audio.
Skiing and non-skiing activities films.
I want a good versatile microphone.

What do I look for to get good audio?
Should I use a secondary recording system and not my t2i?
Good brands?
What price range will hit the mark of quality and cost intersection?
Other info?

You get what you pay for. I've heard amazing things about the Rode Videomic pro but the Rode video mic Go is also a great option.

Depends on your budget.
Rode Videomic Go would/ should be the cheapest you buy. Then videomic and the videomic pro. You get what you pay for. The videomic Pro is an outstanding mic, super small and has a great shock system.

I have an older rode video mic and really like it. Its not top of the line professional audio, but still does an excellent job and is more than enough for a dslr onboard mic. I'll be using my rode video mic on my b-cam all winter long, its almost 8 years old and still works perfectly. Just upgraded my A-cam to the Rode stereo videomic X and I'm very excited to test that one out as well.

I would say rode is the best video mic for the money.

Thanks guys. plus k for the input and it seems like you all agree on the same thing so I'll look into them to see which one suits my needs best.
