BlurstHow exactly did it make things worse for people who already had insurance? Was it only specifically those who already had insurance through an employer who is now trying to screw them to save money?
Also do you think that it really did benefit the very poor population who did not even have the chance at getting insurance before the ACA?
It hurt the poor that couldn't have insurance because before if they didn't want it, they could choose not to buy it. Now they have to buy it, and if they don't, their tax return will get penalized to pay for it. So they'll have less money.
As I believe Casey somewhat said, before the ACA, people who didn't have health care could still go to the emergency room and get treated. Even for things like common colds. They would get billed, never pay it, and the cost would passed along to everyone else.
Just like it is now. People w/out insurance still go to the ER, get treated, and don't pay their bills. They just have their tax returns held now, to pay the penalty for not having insurance in the first place.
And it made it worse for people who already had insurance because under ACA, everyone had to all be covered for the same thing. For instance after the ACA was implemented, my fiance' at the time had to be covered for shit like children's dentistry, even though she isn't a child nor did she have one. All these extra coverages raised her monthly premium from around 80 dollars to around 200 a month.
We now have healthcare provided through my work, and it kicks ass.
