I keep falling off the same side on rails

So I've been skiing quite a bunch of my backyard rail setup recently, and I can't quite get the hang of grinding it.
I can do basic boxes and such, but I haven't done it or skied on snow whatsoever since last season.
Anyways, I spin counter-clockwise onto the rail (to the left), and I keep sliding off it early towards the right of it (where my back is facing).
Any tips on how to stop doing this and slide the entire rail, and hop off successfully?

I had the same problem when I started hitting rails, especially round ones. There may be a couple of different problems. It may be when you are jumping onto the rail, your not getting "fully on it", and by that I mean that you are just kind of jumping on the side of the rail your falling off of. To fix this problem I tried jumping onto the rail with a pretty sharp lean forward, maybe putting your hands out in front of you may help. I have always found it easier to lean back and fall off that way then lean forward, so if shit turned pair shaped I could get off more comfortable.
Thats how I fixed it, hope it helped!
